New life for an old rig

Low power consumption (75w)
Runs cool
Pascal 14nm

Taking into consideration what it is for the price? None

I put this card into my old studio XPS Dell i7 920. PSU 430w and 12g of DDR3. The difference is phenomenal and is why I decided to write this review. I was using a Sapphire HD6850 1G DDR5 graphics card (127w).

First thing is the temp. There is a considerable difference in the heat exhaust from this machine now.
Second is performance. This card is almost 4x as capable while doing so at nearly 1/2 the TPD.
Here's a basic idea from the benchmark in Shadows of Mordor on very high. Running Windows 8.1 with no overclocking.

Sapphire HD 6850 1G DDR5:

Average FPS : 28.72
Max FPS: 47.05
Min FPS: 8.43

Gigabyte GTX 1050 2G DDR5:

Average FPS: 88.87
Max FPS: 148.01
Min FPS: 46.98

I would recommend this GPU to anyone needing to breathe life into an old spare rig. It did wonders for mine.

TOP CRITICAL REVIEW
have had a problem with card look at "Other"

small, low power, low heat
I gave this card a 4 because of the issue I had with it
working with gigabyte to solve this issue, they are working with me to solve this problem
I took the memorial day weekend to work this out
look at "Other"

seems it does not work correctly with all mobos
look at "Other"
I hope this info helps someone else

I have had other on-board video mobos cause problems but not like this.

This is to update my review of 5-28 which hasn't been put up yet.

I returned the following to gigabyte:

The problem is in windows and linux, the results are the same.

I have been trying this card on another computer and it does not show signs of the blanking.

The motherboard I am using is az97m-d3h with an i7 cpu. I did manage through the bios(v f8) to run the computer with no blanking, but I found that I could no longer get into the bios. When I cleared the bios to get into it the blanking problem came back.

The second computer is a 350m-ds3h, and it shows no blanking problems at all. I used for several hours with no problem. This motherboard has bios version f23d.

I think the on-board video of the z97 is some how interfering with the installed video card.

I plan to use the gtx1050 on the 350m any way, so there will be no issues. That is if there are no problems with configuration.

I think this issue is solved.

edit: the manufacturer told me to send this card back for exchange. I have because even though it worked with my new mobo it may not last, or work with another mobo in the future.
I am giving two eggs for the effort put out by the manufacturer.
I will advise if the second card works like it should.

edit:I have using a second card with same mobo with almost same results. However, mostly blanks out second monitor for a seconds at a time. Also noticed some color variations from first card.
