I was up late while intoxicated a few weeks ago and decided to see if any Rtx 3090's were available. By some chance this one was actually in stock, so I ordered it as quickly as my drunk stubby little fingers could go. I didn't even look at the picture, details, etc.. just straight to checkout. In the morning I decided to see how tf my drunken self managed to blow two thousand dollars. I was happy to see that I managed to buy one of these elusive cards, but I was disappointed by the fact it has a waterblock. I've never put together a loop, and was afraid to do so, and also upset that I had to spend MORE money. Oh well, now that I made my first loop and actually get to USE this card now, it's money well spent. The card is impressive and stays cooler than my 3950x in certain instances. The card is also much smaller than I expected, but quite heavy. I do not like RGB Fusion because I hate proprietary software just to work LED lights. Other than that, excellent card and performance. I hope they get the stock situation worked out, I'd be interested in running these with nvidia link even though its probably not necessary.
The NewEgg Shuffle: It was the only 3000 series card I was able to get into a cart and purchase.
The GPU has never displayed video. I have come to the conclusion that I have malfunctioning leak detection malfunctioning.
Here is my story...
The GPU has never displayed video. On the test bench... completely dry... with no fittings attached... the leak detection was blinking red with no video signal.
So I completed the waterloop thinking maybe it needed to be on the loop to work. Exact same thing... there is no video and leak detection blinking red.
I contacted Gigabyte eSupport... broke the loop completely down and put everything back on a test bench. I tried everything they said try. Leak Detection never stops blinking and no video signal.
On the same motherboard to see if the motherboard was the issue I used my 1080 and very old 690 GPU's which both display video. So I installed windows and updated all drivers for motherboard. And put the 3090 back on the test bench. Leak detection never stops blinking and no video signal.
Iv had the card beyond 30 days unfortunately because everything was difficult to obtain. CPU and Motherboard. Not to mention I have been in communication with Gigabyte support in absolute denial that the crown jewel of my new computer... this water-cooled 3090 is not working for over 4 weeks.
On reddit there are posts that have a similar problem. Some say if fittings are too tight and that triggers the leak detection of the system. That's not my issue. With no fittings and completely dry the problem still happens.
Some people say its a malfunctioning leak detection system. I think that's what I have going on. The fixes are things I just am not comfortable with. Especially with a new card under warranty.
This is my 3090 nightmare. I would like to wake up from with a working 3090. I would love to have this card replaced with a working card.
