Works great with Ryzen 1700 and the new Ryzen + above 3200 speeds, this is with a Gigabyte x370 gaming 5 and the gaming K7
Was flawless when I switched to a 2700x, XMP and off I went.. Love it
Only con is the size, I wanted to revert back to a tower cooler from an AIO but the heat sinc to tall..
I wonder if Team Group would exchange this for low profile memory?
Nah probably not.
- Competitive performance for the price
- Looks unique, very cool design
- Solid, feels like an excellent build quality
- Worked out of the box at advertised speed with Ryzen (did update UEFI, probably didn't need to)
- There is a persistent, high-pitched noise that is hard to describe. Other people noticing this say it goes away when you switch RGB profile from wave, but I don't own an ASUS motherboard so I'm unable to do so
- White version as of this review is a full 26$ more expensive than the same version in black
- Orange trim just looks out of place, but that's a minor gripe
[Original] I would not purchase this product knowing what I know now. The noise is too annoying, and I can even hear it through my in-ear monitors. Lying down to relax with my mesh case and PC left on was no problem before with just moderately quiet PC components, and the RAM modules alone compel me to shut off my PC entirely since I couldn't even suspend to RAM without the pulsing noise.
I sent a message with a video to Team Group, hopefully they can resolve the problem.
[Edit] Team Group support responded, this is in part what the support representative stated: 'after the carefully [sic] analysis for our RGB module, the noise is from the fancy lighting effects switch rapidly by our T-Force RGB module. When the lighting effect changes rapidly, it may resonate with other components. It is not a hardware failure. Please feel safe to use.'
So consider the above. The representative was friendly and would certainly have helped through RMA, however, I had already requested a refund through Newegg and purchased a slightly more expensive set of Trident Z RGB with tighter timings. The colours change just as fast, yet make no noise.
All in all, I think the product is visually stunning, and a fairly great value (esp. the cheaper black version) but needs refinements.
