Good drives - purchased in Jan 2010

I've been running three of these drives in a RAID0 array in my Mac Pro 3,1. I use the array for professional HD video editing and compositing work. Never had a single problem with them.

None - although - I wonder if the recent negative reviews are due to a bad batch from the manufacturer? Mine have worked great.

TOP CRITICAL REVIEW
CAVEAT EMPTOR

Can be used as a Paperweight (or bait weight if you are Bluefishing on the East Coast and need to keep your bait on the bottom.)

These Drives are absolutely DISMAL to say the least.

This is a defective design problem Seagate knows about and has know about since three weeks after they hit the market in volume. It doesn't matter where they are made and people make stupic comments about it being made in "China". Years ago, people made snide comments about things being made in "Japan", now Japanese procucts dominate in quality. ther real issue here from a manufacturing point of view is " what level of quality is the Manufacturer willing to accept?" What "rate of failure"? Seagate apparently has a very low threshold of pride and quality. Drives are made in "clean room" factories. this technology is nort new and has been around for decades now. If Seagate actually cared, they would have pulled this line of drives a long time ago. Don't blame NEWEGG for this problem.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Like one of the other reviewers here, I am not a teenager wenting or extolling my limited knowledge on "one" drive purchase. I am a professional who has been buying hard drives for 15 years in volume and from changing manufacturers. Ignorant reviewers will post a comment like "made in China and cr_p", or I have a WD and it ran flawlessly for .......... but. Every manufacturer is going to have DOA's and products that fail, (some earlier than others)...and everyone is going to have a sad story to tell about lost photos data, term papers, thesis's and their treasured p_rn library going "poooof". This is not a commentary one drive.

I have purchased about 40 of these Seagate 7200.11 in 1TB or 1.5TB capacities ( the ".11" is the version number), and about 60 percent of them have failed between day one to 3 months. A Deplorable performance history! I have paid the $ 19.00 advanced service warranty replacement so many times that Seagate knows me by my first name and my zip code...

... I have refused to allow Seagate to replace these with "recertified drives" as the new ones don't work, and I am not trusting my data on someone elses defective product that Seagate has "re-certified". After pressing Warranty Supervisor KIM (800-732-4283) I was able to get "new" product as warranty replacements instead. You have to PUSH THEM, but you can try to salvage a bad situation with at least a new product. Then dump it on Eb_y, and buy Sams_ng Drives. New Egg has great prices on them, they have a three year warranty that you most likely will not need, and great specs. And to those that don't understand the GREEN CONCEPT and the clicking on some Samsung Drives ..The Samsung Green Series are Power friendly. They SPIN DOSN when not active, saving war and teaer on an idling drive, reduces heat and therefore reduces electrical consumption. When you access the drive it takes a second or two to SPIN UP. So they are perfect for DATA STORAGE and maybe not for your Operating System.
