Very fast. Speedtest reported 108Mbps download speeds on a 100Mbps connection.
Tiny footprint: 2.75" x 5" x 1"
Low power consumption: 5Watts
No configuration needed, truly plug and play.
No stand or even holes for wall mounting.
Gets pretty warm. After using it for about 10 minutes, parts of the case were over 130F.
The power cord is a little short at about 4.5 feet.
If no cable connection is present (disconnected, ISP problems, waiting for commissioning, etc..), this modem will keep rebooting itself. While this might be a good practice for recovering a lost connection, it would make troubleshooting an issue quite difficult, since you can't get into the web GUI.
If your service is 100Mbps or less, you really can't go wrong with this modem, especially for only $50.
Modem is smaller than comparable other brands
Works well with plans that are well under 100Mbps
Does work with Comcast
Generates way too much heat. You have to be sure it has very good airflow around it. Since it is smaller and more compact, the components that generate the heat are closer to the casing.
Not really any better than the class standard Arris/Motorola modems which are widely accepted by all internet providers
I tested this briefly on my Comcast internet system connected to a TP Link router. Performance was good, but I did have some dropouts in signal that I didn't have with my Arris modem I put it in place of. This would be an acceptable router to use in most basic situations, but it would not be my first choice as a Docsis 3.0 modem. The small size may be a plus to some, but the fact that you really have to give space around it for airflow negates the small size gain. The signal dropouts I had with it, made me test it less than a week and I just couldn't put up with it. It didn't seem to work well in my situation. When it did stay connected, the signal was good, but no where near my Arris.
I will give this Linksys modem 3 eggs, and that is being generous. It needs to have a bigger case with more airflow internally, and for the price, there are just better options out there.
