Intel Core i7-940 - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.93 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80601940

Pros: Perfect bootup from the first time I powered it on. This CPU is fast! I thought that my OC'd Core2 Quad was fast, but this gives a very nice boost.

Cons: The stock heatsink is a little clunky to install, and the fan is not silent. I'm waiting for a good aftermarket CPU cooler.

Overall Review: Make sure your DDR3 is rated at 1.65v or lower. The memory controller is integrated into the CPU (vs the chipset for previous generations), and if you crank up the DDR3 voltage, you could blow your CPU. Asus Rampage II Extreme, 6 * 2GB GSkill DDR3 1333 1.5v, BFG nvidia GTX 260 MC OCX, 2 * WD Black 1TB 32MB cache in Raid 0 stripe, LG BD/HDDVD drive, Vista 64. Heatsink/fan has a larger footprint than 775 heatsink/fans, so I cannot reuse my Tuniq from my old system.

Pros: Very good to work with installation wise. I was a bit apprehensive at the pricy mistake if I goofed up and cracked it. It runs well except for a strange error and blue screen (on very limited frequency) I am getting it may need to be exchanged becuase they can't figure out what it is but it has to do with power in one of the cores only.

Cons: PRICE OF COURSE! Lack of easy to access assistance...It is running at a higher speed than the box and doc's state and I have even gotten a warning from Intel's diagnostic software that I will void my warranty for overclocking it as it believes I am doing. I am not!

Overall Review: Intel needs to make assistance for issues above simple fixes available visually so people can refer and visually see a source for services.
