Pros: Price just dropped $10.00 on this making it an even better value. This chip takes care of the needs of the majority of users and for gaming, anything else over this is going to waste really. It's the highest end of the midline of Intel's desktop chips and for the current price of $209.99 you can't beat the value. Regardless of what others say, it's clearly superior to AMD's highest end desktop chip; even when overclocked to a lesser extent than the AMD. Only one gaming title where the AMD 8 core did better and it was in BF3 multiplayer and even then it was only by a small percentage. In al other titles this chip did better; Supreme Commander 2, Far Cry 3, Crysis 2/3, Skyrim, Dirt 3, Witcher 2 & Metro 2033.

Overall Review: Wish there was a similarly priced option on the 2011 socket. This is holding me over until Ivy Bridge-E.

Pros: 22nm less power but read cons

Cons: Ivy Bridge's temperatures is reportedly 20°C higher compared to Sandy Bridge when overclocked, because instead of using fluxless solder to transfer heat from the die to the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS), Intel used Thermal Interface Materials (TIM) to cut cost. The thermal paste has much lower thermal conductivity, causing heat to build up on the die.[19][20][21] Intel has said that overclocking the CPU will result in higher temperatures due to the fact that with the die shrink, there is an increased thermal density; Intel at the same time stated that this is as expected and will likely not improve in future revisions
