This card is quiet despite running at 100% fan speed all the time, especially compared to my GTX260 @ 100%. I've got it in an Antec Three Hundred Case with 4 case fans and I can barely tell the computer is even on. This card has the BEST price/performance ratio out there. Only a couple bucks cheaper than the next best card for price/performance and can give 15-30% better performance.
No fan control in EVGA Precision, but not a big deal since it's quiet to me. Not much overclocking room. I think EVGA tested a bunch of GTS 250's and picked the one's that were stable at the slowest speeds and sold them as a crippled version. That's fine with me at this price. Only 2 year warranty but at that time I will want to upgrade anyways. Also, this card is not eligible for EVGA's Step Up program.
I use this in my wife's computer with an 18.5" widescreen monitor @ 1366x768 res. This card coupled with an Intel E5300 @ 2.6 Ghz and 4GB RAM is the perfect combination and plays all games at max settings. Mass Effect 2 avg. 60+ FPS, Crysis DX10 Very High avg. 27 FPS. This card is extremely good for price. Recommend this card, especially because it's from EVGA the best Manufacturer out there. Thanks EVGA and Newegg for a great product!
Good value with rebate. Low power usage--good upgrade for my old XPS410 with 375W Power Supply. Specs. call for 450W but what you really need is 24Amps on the +12V rail which my power supply provides. Got it next day with standard shipping.
The card has no fan control meaning you get constant fan speed. EVGA Precision utility reports fan speed as 65% and it cannot be changed. I confirmed this with EVGA tech support. It's a bit too loud for my taste and cannot ramp up when needed. That being said, temps. seemed to be fine in most applications and light gaming--got no higher than 43C in a case with decent airflow but I'm playing games that are 3-4 years old.
I've RMA'ed it and will get something better.
