Cooler Master V1000 Platinum 1000W Full-Modular, 80 PLUS Platinum, Japanese Capacitors, Single/Multi Rail Switch, 10 Year Warranty Power Supply

Pros: Inexpensive way to get a reliable power supply that is “good enough” for 95% of everyone out there.

I’ve been building all of the PC’s and servers in my family for decades and the main points of failure over the years have been fans and power supplies. Going cheapest on a power supply is not smart. Going with inexpensive quality is a lot smarter. Cooler Master has released the “MasterWatt Bronze” product line Oct 2017 to appeal to those folks who would rather spend half the $$$ of the fanciest power supply but still have a quality product with the features most people think are important.

The main features are: quiet operation, sufficient modularity to make a build easy, long lifespan, clean power, decent efficiency.

With the new lower power processors out there, the 650 Wattage range is common. Newegg has a Power Supply Calculator that is quite helpful.

The compromises that allow for a decent price:
85% (Bronze Plus) power efficiency instead of 92% (Platinum). That will just cost you a few pennies per year.
Instead of complete quiet at all power outputs there is a very quiet fan that turns completely off at under 15% loading (about 100 Watts). The fan, however, is a long lasting Silencio FP 120 fan with LDB bearing and a life expectancy of around 160,000 hours.
Instead of a completely modular design the main 24 pin and the 8 pin power cables are hardwired (sleeved) and the rest of the cables are modular.
If getting away from these three compromises is worth paying double then go for it. Otherwise spend the $$ on a better SSD, graphics card, or processor.

What is not compromised: 5 year warranty, great voltage and cross voltage stability, excellent ripple noise output, the accessory cables are long enough and made of high gauge wire (16AWG for PCI-e). Good variety of accessory cables for the wattage.

Cons: None at this price point.

Overall Review: Testing. What I had available was: ammeters, variable loads, oscilloscope, multimeters, ears.
The 650 Watt unit was able to provide about 680 Watts maximum. The 3.3V and 5V rail can provide 22 amps and the 12 V rail can provide 54 amps (think big graphics card). The voltage regulation was within 2% at a range of loads I tried. High loading on just the 12 V rail didn’t mess up the lower voltage regulation. The best efficiency was around 89% at about half load. The oscilloscope looked quite clean on ripple suppression (under 50 mV on 12 V rail cranked to high load). My old ears had a hard time hearing the power supply fan over the CPU fan - even near full load. The PSU fan turned on at just under 100 Watts.

During my testing the supply seems to not be able to put out the full 650 W it was struggling at the 580W mark on my gaming rig.

Overall Review: Not sure why is says fan-less but trust me there's a fan but it is silent so maybe that's what they are hinting at.

Not for Gamers but good budget power supply.
