Uses power from the motherboard. Low wattage. Very quiet, even with the case cover off. My GTX 760 bit the dust and I wanted to wait until the prices drop on the higher end cards. This was a great alternative until then. Was able to push the settings up a little on almost all games. So far, I am very happy with this purchase and as always, Newegg to the rescue.
The fan was making a very loud noise. I pulled card out noticed the power leads really close to the fan under the cover. I gently tugged down on the wires and it pulled away from the fan. Reinstalled and that was the problem. This happens sometimes during shipping.
If you have a working 760 or better, I would wait. But otherwise, I would recommend this video card.
It runs great and quiet,
but the HDMI port has to be wiggled around to find the "sweet spot". I tried the same with the DisplayPort, but I'm now convinced that port is just dead
