In Desktop Internal Hard Drives

Came quick, was priced right, plugged into NAS and worked.

Ordered two on the 4th of Mar (Friday) and received both on the 7th (Monday 3/7/2022). Ran all of Sea Tools diagnostics on them and they passed all tests. (Note: the Long Generic test takes ~14 Hrs.). I purchased a D-Link DNS-320 NAS in 2011. It was slow and their 2.05 firmware only supported up to 3 TB hard drives. I found freeware firmware called Alt-F that can be loaded on the DNS-320 and supports the 8 TB hard drives. I loaded the Alt-F firmware and it formatted the ST8000VN004s using Ext 4 in a RAID 1 configuration resulting in a swap file and 7.2 TB of usable storage. I copied almost 4 TB of data to the old NAS, breathing new life into a previously pretty limited 2-bay NAS server.

• 3TB capacity for a good price to GB ratio. • Warranty 2 Years. • Passed my testing with flying colors. • Quiet drive. • Fast for a large drive @7200rpm (see caution under cons). • Temps not stressful (even under load for a good while). • A Sample test result is attached under this: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 x64 (C) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * MB/s = 1,000,000 byte/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 byte/s] Sequential Read : 187.296 MB/s Sequential Write : 173.893 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 54.304 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 84.912 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 0.636 MB/s [ 155.3 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 1.258 MB/s [ 307.2 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 0.679 MB/s [ 165.8 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 1.159 MB/s [ 283.1 IOPS] Test : 1000 MB [F: 0.4% (11.8/2794.4 GB)] (x9) Date : 2016/12/14 9:20:29 OS : Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64)

- The drive works and provides good speed for my NAS. - Good storage amount for the price.

- Bought the 22TB for my NAS Synology 923+ and works perfectly fine - Quite (Unlike I've read in some comments here - probably you got a faulty one) - Easy to install - Package was packed pretty good

Hard drive is everything advertised, good price large storage. The important note is newegg customer service. Ordered 2 and 1 was damaged in shipping, rma'd product with some pictures and newegg sent me a brand new one. Never got a return label from ups or a schedule to pick up the dead one but that's fine, all I cared about was getting the replacement for my project. 10/10

Arrived on time and formatted right out of the packaging. I'm using it in an external USB enclosure as a backup drive.

perfect for NAS. I don't really need the AI function in the drives they sit in a UNIFI protect set up. I have the 24TB one in my home protect set up and initially it was loud, but it has become more quite since it finished it originally set up. I have 8 of the 8TB drives with no issues. 2 are cold spares. when they go in I'll order 2 more. I take the drives that are out of warranty and typically put them in our 3rd tier backup NAS systems and they seem to live forever. Technically out of "service life" but that doesn't mean I take them offline, I stick them into a lower use environment to live out their days storing old accounting stuff. Nothing as exciting as VIDEO

Installation facile. Produit très fiable.

Had to send one faulty drive back for replacement. The other three, after a long format, formatted greatly. Populating the other three now with data. Superb so far. The replacement for the faulty drive is on the way via Newegg. An excellent company! The quick turn around is fantastic. Can't wait to get all the drives finished.

Replacement drives for my NAS, data transfer faster which I assume is due to the newer SATA.

Its a HDD!

They're hard drives with lots of storage space Great price Shipped fast like normal for New egg

The 6 TB version seemed like the best balance between price, size, performance and noise / heat. This is going in a 4 bay NVR which is in a very quiet environment. So far, these drives seem much quieter than the 7200rpm version (during seek) which are being swapped out 1 at a time to allow the RAID rebuilds to catch up. Temps are 10C lower than the 7200 pro version. (37C vs. 47-49C per SMART data.)

This is a good little high quality hard drive for surveillance systems, as the WD Purple line is designed for the high I\O loads encountered in these systems. I used this drive in my custom server chassis Windows based video surveillance machine, and it had no issue with the several lower definition cameras I recorded to it. Since it is only 1TB and I wanted high retention, I am using this drive for only lower definition cameras, but I tested it briefly with several HD streams as well and it performed flawlessly. The drive feels like it’s well built, and it operates cool and quietly. When benchmarking the speed of the drive, I obtained the following results: Average Read Rate: 121.1MB/s (1000 samples) Average Write Rate:: 117.6MB/s (1000 samples) Average Access Time: 19.94ms (1000 samples)

18tb of storage is great

By MB, the cheapest and reliable HD in the market Will last many years of constant use
