Works great with a Maxtor 500gb, 7200rpm, SATA 3.0. Absolutely zero heating issues running in a system overclocked 110%. No issues with the SATA connector. Mechanisms are solid and secure, no need to lock it. If your files are that important, I'd recommend getting a safe. It also mounts flush and works fine with my case's front window.

I use these cases to store 3.5-in. hard drives for video editing, I often have half a dozen drives that I'm swapping in and out of the drive bays on my computer, I needed a safe way to store the drives with easy access while editing. I actually purchased two other kinds of cases first just for testing, and these are the best for me, the case opens like a book so you can gently and freely lift out the hard drive without touching the electronics, and so there is no way for the drive to become stuck inside the case.
