After my onboard internet connection went on the fritz, I purchased this NIC card based on Intels reputation and its reviews. After install I ran into problems with the connection dropping after 10-20 minutes of use. Intel support was very helpful with figuring out what the issue was, which turned out using the latest driver on Intels website. It works great now. Thank you Intel and Newegg.
This was older sys and I needed NIC card but no PCI slots left.
- 300MB/s (megabytes per second!) over Cat 5e ethernet (<100M length) - Inexpensive - Can be used as a kind of cheap HBA with "Auto-MDIX" (a regular ethernet cable used in crossover mode) for a point-to-point link between a NAS and another computer.
Server sounds really impressive until you realize that it's just a pcie x1 slot. On the other hand, pcie x1 slot. I put it in a half size slot because it makes me not have to fight with a video card. Points up. This won't be apparent to you unless your card has ports facing another way. Get this one and save yourself a headache you will wonder why you even have.
Lower cost than others of its kind. It's significantly smaller than I was expecting, and the heat sink covers every bit of usable space for exceptional cooling.
Pulled it out of the box, installed it into a PCI-e 1X slot, booted the Win 10 system, and had 4 new NICs.
This appeared in Windows 8.1/10 to be identical to the one on my motherboard
