Plug 'n' play with 3rd party external enclosure I can't believe how far we've come in just the last 2-3 years in regards to availability, speeds, and reliability, plus even accessibility which makes it just the best recommendable upgrade anyone can do, whether it be for an older laptop needing a boost to speeds, or even as an addition to a gaming system as a 2ndary drive. I'm, however, using this as a nice everyday-carry item where I put all my larger files which transfer extremely fast, and batches of smaller files which transfer completely before you even have a chance to look down twice at your keyboard. Smart packaging saves the day! The outside of the box was quite beaten up in transit, but a large amount of thick foam packing kept the drive safe and secure. Initial read speed tests showed 6,537MB/s, well above the PS5s requirement of 5,500MB/s. This speed can vary from test to test, but its nice to see the drive getting close to theoretical max performance right out of the gate. Per Sonys recommendations, M.2 drives installed in the PS5 should have adequate heat dispersion. The heatsink with this drive is great and should provide enough heat dispersion to keep the drive cool, which should help improve the lifespan of the drive. Although your PS5 wont complain if you install an M.2 drive without a heatsink, its really not recommended to do so I was able to transfer Metro Exodus, a full 76.82GB game, in 1:01.57. At that rate, you could fill the drive in ~10 minutes. The drive fits *perfectly* in the PS5. When Corsair said made specifically for PS5, I guess they meant it! Although youll never see it once its installed, it compliments the internals of the PS5 nicely. Installation couldnt be easier. In less than 5 minutes, you can easily double the stock storage capacity of your PS5. Beats the days of swapping HDDs with expensive, high-capacity SSDs like back in the PS3/PS4 days!
