Excellent performance for the price!1/15/2022 12:59:02 AM
Pros: - Excellent speed for the price (3500mb read and 3000mb write)
- Pushes PCI-E 3.0 to the limit
- Great product support
- Excellent warranty
- Quality product
- Fast boot speed and game loads
- Fastest read speed for PCI-E 3.0
Cons: - Very little cache
- Slower sustained write speed
Overall Review: This basically comes down to which version of PCI-E your motherboard supports. If you can support a PCI-E 4.0 (gen4) then I wouldn't buy this drive. If you are like me however, and your computer only supports PCI-E 3.0 (gen3) then this drive is an excellent choice not only for it's budget price but also for it's performance. I installed Windows 11 in under 20 minutes, and that's from start to finish, where you're logged in and on the desktop. There are probably other PCI-E 3.0 drives available with faster write speeds but this is the fastest read speed out of all PCI-E 3.0 (gen3) nVME SSD drives (confirmed by multiple websites that did testing) Western Digital makes quality products and I am always satisfied with my purchases. This is a budget drive but it's also fine for gaming as well. There's nothing worse than a person who buys a budget drive and then comes and complains how slow it is. If you want more speed, go spend more money, it's as simple as that. You get what you pay for, this is true for most things in life. If your computer supports PCI-E 4.0 (gen4) or higher, go buy a drive that is compatible with that instead of putting a 3.0 drive into a 4.0 motherboard. I replaced the 512gb drive that came with my laptop and there is not really any difference in speed, even though the 512gb drive was Samsung and had a larger cache, I never really noticed a difference between the two. I now have two WD Blue drives in my laptop, the 1TB SN570 is my main drive and I have a 1TB SN550 for a secondary drive. I am happy with my purchase and you will be too.
Affortable NVME drive. No DRAM cache.2/2/2022 8:28:02 AM
Pros: Faster than SSD.
Good capacity for the price.
Cons: No DRAM cache which make it slower for certains operation. - This info should be on the product description page.
Does not come with the screw needed to secure it. You have to find the one that was provided with your motherboard... Lost it? good luck finding one that fit.
Overall Review: This is a nice affortable drive. It is not as fast as other drive but fast enought for every day use. I would certainly buy again.
My main issue is with the shipping. I ordered from newegg because I was supposed to get the drive in less than 2 days. Purolator got the drive on the 20th, stalled with it in toronto for 3 days and then sent it to quebec city... Newegg, you should really use an other carrier. This is not the first time Purolator failed me. I might buy from an other vendor next time, just because of that.
Pros: One of my computers booted slow (1 minute and 24 seconds) since it was new. It came with a 6 gen I7 and 16 gigs of DDR4. Removed the old hard drive and installed this drive. I installed Win 10 and all apps anew, thinking that there was some trash on the old drive. Once all the software was installed, it then booted in 12 seconds.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Can't guarantee the same results for you, but it did wonders for my sad old box at a bargain price .
Pros: As with all M.2 drives easy to install and no cabling
Almost as fast a read speeds as my WD Black 750 and oddly enough the write speeds are significantly faster than the 750 according to Crystal Disk Mark
Cons: None
Overall Review: Yes I would recommend this product
I kind of wish I would have installed two of these on the initial build to save a few bucks over the Black edition 750
