Great buy on sale. Works fine on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0! I have found that Western Digital has the fastest and most reliable USB 3.0 interface of all of the external drive manufacturers, with the sometimes cheaper Seagate external drives having the slowest of data transfer rates. In fact, they are about half the write speeds of the Western Digital drives. The brand new square plastic cases of the Western Digital USB 3.0 drives are the fastest yet in write speeds! Great drives!

This thing is so ingenious. using this one with a Samsung 970, can also use the thermal pad on this one. Last one I had my SSD chips were to thin and the clearance was to great for the thermal pad to make up the height difference. Solved by just buying some thicker thermal pads. This one though works perfectly. The heat spreader is running at 112F above the CPU? on the SSD and about 108F on the memory chips so the thermal pads are working.

I have many (~20) of these WD Elements (8TB, 14TB, 16TB, 18TB and now 20TB) for the last 10 years. So far so good. They are fast and quiet.

Lorex DVR D841. Power down, remove original 2TB drive. Place this 8TB drive into the chassis, connect, power up - verify storage - done. An easy upgrade. Smooth - no unexpected issue.

Just plug it in an start copying files. No power brick so super portable. Included cable is short but adequate.

These WD HDD's are for my security system servers and they usually last five to eight years. I prefer to buy from Newegg because I still remember they were the first company to really step up the game, and send my stuff the very next day as promised. Way before am zon, who is just out to put the other guy out of business. Newegg never has sent me junk parts, and has always been my PC parts shipper choice.

I use the docking station to move from a PC with 6 drives to a iMac 5k. To my surprise all the PC drives 3T and 4T were instantly available on the mac as well as all the files and photos! I can have both mac and pc drives in the doing station at the same time. I can pop in the drives I need when I need them. What a difference in transferring from a mac to PC which I did 3 months ago. That was an experience that no one should have to undergo!
