I just barely bought it and plugged in my 4 software raided hard drives and my OS (Ubuntu) mounted them immediately and I had full access to everything I had set up before. The unit feels pretty sturdy and the cooling seems effective. If something happens down the road I'll update this review. This has HDMI built in. I imagine it would work if I had used the built in hardware/software raid (whatever it is) for playing media directly to a screen. I don't plan on using that feature so I can't review it.

I ordered 2 of these drive cases to put to use a couple of WD 1Tb drives I had leftover from an upgrade. One of the two boxes worked fine, the other was DOA. I RMAed it and New Egg sent me one that works. Failures can happen to the best of them but the company (Vantek) should have better quality control. That dead box should never have gotten out the door. Other than getting a dead drive box, both seem to work as advertised.

I use the docking station to move from a PC with 6 drives to a iMac 5k. To my surprise all the PC drives 3T and 4T were instantly available on the mac as well as all the files and photos! I can have both mac and pc drives in the doing station at the same time. I can pop in the drives I need when I need them. What a difference in transferring from a mac to PC which I did 3 months ago. That was an experience that no one should have to undergo!
