I paired this with an Intel M.2 SSD. The M.2 drive I was using had a big ID sticker across where the thermal heat sink compound was supposed to go. I used this without the provided heatsink to see how hot the SSD might get in my big, well ventilated case. Its cool to the touch so I'll put the heatsink in some drawer somewhere until I forget what its even for.
