Nice slim device easy to use plug and play really easy

Really good value. I bought two of these for two different machines. Both machines have USB 3 ports, so they can take advantage of the faster transfer rates. I was running out of storage on my media center PC and this one device enabled me to add 50% more storage. The other serves as an archive for my photographs. Just what I needed.

18tb of storage is great

- Huge - Least Expensive

Install is pretty simple and using is as easy as any other USB device

Doing LLM training and needed to use a 35TB training file and 3TB validation file. Used 3 of these drives to create a RAID 0 drive with approx 54TB capacity. (this is on Ubuntu and formatted with XFS file system since usual EXT4 tops out at about 16TB file size.) Works great and much faster than a single drive would be due to the striping of RAID 0.

I thought that I had received the wrong drive. Acutally I had the wrong cable. And I should have known better. Once I got the correct cable, the boards work.

- Comes with plastic knockout to use as dust covers for either the Slim ODD slot or the 3.5" if/when not in use. - As expected, locking plastic tabs work nicely and are easy to work with. - Came with a large variety of screws to accommodate a large number of devices. Included screws: Slim ODD M2*4, 3.5" HDD #6-32*6, FDD/'3.5" device' M3*6 (narrow pitch), 'device' (bracket itself I think) M3*6 (wide pitch). - Came with a slimline SATA to standard SATA extension/adapter cable necessary for using a slim/ultra slim ODD with a standard power supply. - Has all the screw hole options for mounting different devices. I mounted a card reader and it's nice and snug.

I'm using these in a NAS system in a mirrored array and the write speeds are quite good. Solid, error-free performance. Very little internal temperature variance.

Drive is a better price than most consumer 6TB drive and has much better specifications. This drives is rated for 600k load/unload cycles, most other drives, even some with 5 year warranties are rated for 300k. This drive has a read error rate that is 100x better than most consumer class drives. 1 sectore per 10E15 vs 10E14 for consumer class drives like the Barracuda or WD Blue. Mean Time Before Failure of 2 million hours. Rated for a workload of 550TB per year. Annualized Failure Rate of 0.44%. Advanced Write Caching via internal NOR flash. 5 year warranty. Specifications allow for 24x7 operation of the drive. Some other drives including Seagate Barracuda are only specced for 40 hours power on time a week! 8,760 hours a year versus 2,400. This drive uses Perpendicular Magnetic Recording and not the horrible Shingled Magnetic Recording that Seagate's consumer class drives use. SMR has such a bad reputation Seagate has changed the name to TGMR, but make no mistake TGMR means SMR.

Small footprint fit under computer table on top of my desktop.

lots of space

- Ease of setup - Speed / functionality

Big Storage at low priceSmall AC adaptor compared to Seagate 14TB USB

cheap, fits well, no problems.
