WOW A LOT OF SPACE FOR STORAGE

Very fast transfer speed. Transferred 100GB, and by the end of the transfer, windows 7 reported 96 MB/second average. Probably my fasted external now.

- A little faster than a 5400 RPM drive - Quiet, reliable and cool running - Lots of storage space (I use these drives for video storage and backups) - Economical (especially if you catch it on a deep sale) - about 0.015 cent cost per gigabyte - Shipping was fast - it arrived a day early! - I now have 3 of this model and will probably get at least one more in the future. - MOST IMPORTANTLY - It is a CMR (NOT SMR) drive

The 6 TB version seemed like the best balance between price, size, performance and noise / heat. This is going in a 4 bay NVR which is in a very quiet environment. So far, these drives seem much quieter than the 7200rpm version (during seek) which are being swapped out 1 at a time to allow the RAID rebuilds to catch up. Temps are 10C lower than the 7200 pro version. (37C vs. 47-49C per SMART data.)

Good SSD cooler with one caveat. Comes with several heat pads of different thickness and even includes a mini screwdriver. Installing a single-sided SSD will have no issues whatsoever.

- Capacity - Speed - Buffer size - Reliability

most trusted HDD

By MB, the cheapest and reliable HD in the market Will last many years of constant use

- Can accept M.2 M-Key NVMe SSDs

Plugged it into my synology NAS and it works. The test of time will tell...

Looks great. Works as intended. Easy to install and set up.

Well, I have to say I am impressed with this hard drive. While I do not have a security setup this drive is running in my main home network computer as a shared storage. Lots of reading and writing to it for storage of music, pictures, movies, and system backups. I have to say it handles all of it with ease. Its very fast even for only being a 5400 rpm hard drive. This drive is faster in reads and writes than my systems 640gb western digital blue 7200 rpm hard drive. With 1 terabyte of storage space it has plenty of room for all my networks needs. On my system it runs at Sata 3gbs speeds I can just imagine how much faster it would be if I had Sata 6gbs ports for it to be connected to. Very quiet drive so far with my experience with it, unlike some drives I have had that you could actually hear operating, when reading or writing to them. Now as I have said I use it for my home networks shared storage device, I can attest to the fact it handles everything, and as such if you set it up for a security systems drive it would handle all your data needs for recording video 24/7. Nice 3.5 inch drive whatever your needs may be.

Easy to set up. Fast transfers and a small footprint. I traditionally swap out my external drives about once a year. Each year they get bigger. This year I bought 2 5TB drives to replace my older pair of 2TB drives. (My old ones will remain an archive.) So far, I have only activated one, but it is working fine.

- Works as promised. So far so good.

These WD HDD's are for my security system servers and they usually last five to eight years. I prefer to buy from Newegg because I still remember they were the first company to really step up the game, and send my stuff the very next day as promised. Way before am zon, who is just out to put the other guy out of business. Newegg never has sent me junk parts, and has always been my PC parts shipper choice.

No regrets!! Worth every penny.
