So I've had the 4TB for a bit longer than a month now, so I figure I can go ahead and leave a review. To start with, I actually own a 10 year old, 640GB WD My Book. It still runs perfectly, but 640GB just wasn't enough to cut it anymore, so I figured it was time to upgrade and put the other away for safekeeping, and because of how long it's lasted I felt it was a safe bet to purchase another WD. I'm very pleased thus-far. I do like that it has a slimmer body than my original MyBook, and installation is incredibly easy. Plug it in and go. The HD makes things a little easier on me for backing up important documents not just for work but for school and personal use. Now and then I'll hear a bit of a vibration when I'm putting it through use, but doesn't really bother me because computers' do the same thing when the processor is in use. It sits quietly in the corner of my desk when not in use, like it's not even there. It's actually faster than my 10 y/o My Book, so that's a positive. It's sufficient storage for what I need, and while it was strange to me at first, I do mostly like the new case design.

I probably have 20 of these drives that are 20TB or bigger. Due to work they are the "floppy drives" of the 2020s.

Bought 18 TB on sale for less than the price of a 12 TB. This is my 3rd size/generation of a WD Elements external hard disk drive. No failures on previous drives. None so far on this one.

Good Transfer Rates. Recieved last December, formatted for simple backup device, use daily. Still running strong!

I Purchased an 18 Terra and it's great. I only have a usb 3.0 port but still the transfer rate was between 160M and 195M

I have owned many dozens of the WD Elements, My Book and and internal hard disk drives over the decades and have NEVER had one fail. Many of my old storage drives are over 15 years old and still working perfectly. Having said that it is of course time to retire the 1 TB or smaller hard drives now and back them all up on a larger single drive like the WD Elements 18 TB. Really nice to be able to fit the data from 5 to 10 older drives onto one large HD. I have since purchased another of these as a backup. Quiet, dependable and long lasting. Who could ask for more? I have had other hard drives fail in the past made by companies other than WD but I will not provide names as they have some good products but I only trust Western Digital for long term protection of my files. IMHO, they have no equal.

Easy to set-up and start using. Great storage capacity. I've always had great luck with Western Digital products.

I'm not into the third generation of Buffalo DriveStations. I use them in fours for backups; two alternating and two alternating off-site. I alternate two on-site so that if there's a drive failure, I'll still have a relatively recent backup. That has never happened with DriveStations. I've bought new DriveStations because, when I get a new computer, it inevitably has a larger disk. The Axis Velocity drives are nearly silent (you can hear disk seeks sometimes) and take full advantage of USB 3.0. With the two drives I just bought, I backed up 257 GB in less than 90 minutes per drive, using AES encryption, which slowed the process.

Small for capacity. easy hook up to usb port on computer. Comes with USB cable an power adapter. Works well for my backup purposes. Haven't had it long but work fine so far.

I cannot complain for the price at Newegg basically compensates for the intermitent noise running a tad hot. But I'm confident it will be fine. Best deal I've got for a HD. I shopped around and Newegg was by far the best deal and had it in stock. Not even you know who had it in stock.

Great for the xbox one! Plenty Storage space and faster loading time!
