Keeps my R9 9950x3D under 40C while idle, and never above 65C while gaming. Lets my CPU overclock to 5Ghz while running 100% utilization for long periods of time. I recommend using the separate plugs for the fans vrm fan and the pump.

i bought this with my i5 14600kf stock out of the box and this cpu have 20 threads, i played bf 6 and my CPU reached 85 c which was way to toasty so i went in the BIOS and undervolted and disable hyper threading and after my cpu was only 70c, 73 c. instead of using stock out of the box the manufacturer of motherboards always crank all the way the power limits, mine was 200 watts and i downgrade to 125 watts. so never use the stock settings, its wasting heat and power for nothing. there is almost no lost of performance.

The 5900x worked out of the box... which is a good thing of course. It replaces the 3900x that was on the Gigabyte x470 Ultra Gaming motherboard. The system is running KUbuntu 20.04 LTS (Been Windows free for years now). The motherboard has seen a 1600, 2600, 3600, 3900x, and now the 5900x. Obviously updated the BIOS before installing new processor. Suspect it may be the last generation of processors for this motherboard but we'll see. How many motherboards can say that? The CPU is being cooled by a Cooler Master MasterAir MA620M which was also working really well for the 3900x. Idle tempis hanging around 33C. High so far has been 46C. MX-4 thermal compond used on the processor to air cooler interface. Oh, in BIOS, I disabled the turbo boost (don't need it) and turned on the XMP for the 32GB of memory. Also turned on option so I can have VMs. All works! Not a gamer, just a old programmer that is happy with his powerhouse computer. Did I need it? No. This was just to see how far I can push this motherboard and say that I could! Obviously I am leaving a lot of performance on the table being a x470 rather than a x570 motherboard with PCI4 and such. But so what. Always get one of them down the road.

I didn't want the added complexity and points-of-failure for an AIO so I took a chance on this air cooler. Works great on a Ryzen 7 9800X3d. And it's perfect in a Fractal Design R5 case which has a large opening in the side of the metal case for the GPU exhaust - none of the glass cases for me, I built a tool, not a work of art with all the glitzy flashing LEDs the kiddies like!
