This simply works as expected. It's a dumb switch. It is in a metal box, not simple plastic. it has two LEDs per port, Green for Gig, and amber/yellow for 100/10. This is part of the reason for the purchase, it lets you know you have the correct wiring. If you have a Gig port device connected and you don't get a green, you have most likely a cable or interface set up problem. I'm using this in a lab environment so this was important. By the way it has 8 ports, 1 for net work, and 7 for equipment. currently using 6 of the 8.

Very neat, much nicer than I anticipated, it looks like it might have been designed by Boeing for use in a state of the art aircraft. It isn’t much bigger than it needs to be, it can be neatly tucked away, its light, runs cool; is extremely well thought out, the fit and finish are excellent. Each port has two LEDs indicating speed and function. The entire package is very neat, I’m impressed.
