Inexpensive, works well and thin Never a boot or detect issue Has become our favorite

was looking for a way to get my pc to read a sd card since the cheap pc case didn't have one built into it, this does the trick.. using a asus 970 mobo

I built my wife a higher end computer. She takes a lot of photos with her Sony & her cell phone camera. I bought her this to internal multi card reader so she won't have to use the portable USB reader she used for years. I've never had any bad product from StarTech, and it held true with this card reader. The 1 USB port is very nice and handy as well. My wife has been using it almost exclusively. Easy to install. Just mount like you would a DVD burner and connect 1 cable to a USB connection on your motherboard. That's it.

Does what it's supposed to do. No issues. Sturdy build that should (hopefully) last a long time.

This IOGEAR GFR204SD card reader meets all my critera. After buying seven card readers, I might be happy with this model. I want the following: 1} works as boot device, 2} reads SDHC cards, 3} has slim form that doesn't hog USB ports, 4} activity LED. I would've bought the Aluratek AUCR202F, but it seems to lack an LED. SDHC support is helpful, but booting support is essential. This IOGEAR reader boots faster than my old SimpleTech reader: 54 sec. vs. 74 sec. using the same 2GB card. It is small and sturdy. It's made of green-metallic painted plastic. The intelligently-worded pamphlet actually contains useful information. The SD slot faces downward when this reader is plugged into a typical mini-tower PC case. The price is reasonable. If I have to buy one more reader -- for a client -- I might try the Rosewill RSD-CR106.

-Easy link to the kernal needed -No need to mod your ds,3ds,etc -Good price -Comes with usb to microSD
