Very fast and a multitasking monster.

Overkill for any sort of gaming but so are basically every CPU on the market atm. Good value for performance if you get it on a good sale like I did way under the price of its AMD competitors. Can be undervolted quite heavily and stay stable reducing power consumption and thermals way below what AMD runs at but reviewers are dumb and never do this for some reason despite knowing it's been a MOBO issue for years but blame the CPU. Can handle insane voltages/wattage if you really want to push the clock speeds and got the cooling for it.

I upgraded from an i7-2600 and i can now play games from recent years and i can try to start streaming and/or recording videos.

I built a desktop geared specifically for Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4.1 photo editing with this chip. I didn't go for the 3770K as I don't plan on overclocking (this is an editing box only, no games). I'm very happy with it's performance; I'm now able to process edits in significantly less time (than with a Xeon dual core) and the integrated graphics are definitely powerful enough to run both Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4.1. I have only encountered a handful of filters that take upwards of 6-8 seconds to apply (ie, Blurs, etc.) so I'm not in an IMMEDIATE rush to order a dedicated Graphics card just yet but will be pursuing when the prices drop a bit more (WEI Graphics Score is a 6.5) . One note; make sure you go to Intel's website and download the latest driver for the HD Graphics 4000 after installing. Don't rely on the status of the driver in Windows Device Manager. It says it's up to date, but it wasn't. Some PS filters wouldn't preview until after I updated the driver.

I upgraded from an Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, E8400 Intel processor with 8 Gigbyte Ram, and Intel SSD 330 series (5-year warranty) to the Phenominal "Devil's Canyon" 4790k, which CPU scores quadrupled and tripled in some events on PassMark 7.0. So it uses 88Watts, which is better than the Extreme LGA 2011 Intel processor. 22mm architecture results in less heat and small heat sink. Price because who really needs four or five video cards running, which is what the LGA 2011 X97 chipset was meant for. I am happy with the Z97 chipset that powers my one XFX ATI Radeon 4890, which was fast four years ago and still rocks! I have 8 cores that show up on Windows 7 Resource Monitor, which is impressive. This is only a Quad Core, but runs like an 8-core. Intel continues to lead the processor market for productivity and this processor will help you achieve that!! The 4.0GHz speed is one whole gigahertz faster than my old Core 2 Duo E8400.
