Great size, quiet operation, no driver or setup needed (cannot speak for MAC), excellent quality burns meaning excellent burn quality test results, highly compatible.

It will play DVDs and Blu-Rays. Get VLC or another software. Make sure you also research how to add the dll and other file to get VLC to play Blu-Ray. Also, make sure the settings is for region A if you are in the U.S.A.

In the age of everything being downloadable, an external optical drive like this is perfect for a power-user like myself. For instance, I removed the optical drive that came with my laptop so that I could have a bootable ssd and a terabyte secondary drive for storage. This product excellent for the rare times that I do need a drive. I hardly ever use an optical drive unless I am installing my OS or burning a disc. I was shocked when I pulled this drive from the box, the diamond-cut design actually looks very nice. I was quite impressed. As for the drive itself, I have used it to burn three discs so far (one DVD and two CDs) and it worked very well. Write speed seemed comparable to an internal drive for me. I did not have to install any drivers as windows 7 picked it up and let me use it right off the bat.

Looks good. Works as is should. Cable has split in case the primary USB connection can't supply enough power. As quiet as any laptop drive normally is. Very nice machined-metal casing.
