I got two of these. One for my nuc and the other for a laptop without an optical drive. I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 16 and average burn at 8x completes a full disc in 12 minutes. I only use quality DVD-R and DVD+R memorex and verbatim discs. I have burned about 15 DVDs in the one and about 30 in the other so far and no coasters yet. And the USB cable is not a Y cable which I like. I have used it in both USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports with no problem. I like the fact that the cable is 1 to 1 and only takes up a single USB port instead of 2 like most that have the Y cables.

It works on my Late 2013 21.5" iMac model ME08LL/A ! I had to plug it in to the back of the mac, the ports on the apple wired keyboard should put out at least 500mA - guess the CD drive needs more than this. When connected to the back of the computer, I only had to use a single port.
