First off, I bought these used, but in researching about them after getting them, I found these reviews here so thought I would post a review/response as I am a Newegg regular... First thing I noticed about them is they are HEAVY for their size. Most speakers nowadays are chintzy plastic "tin cans" with no weight or other significance of any kind. Being a long time audiophile, weight can be an early indicator of quality... It's there. Next, they have a nice finish to them - good solid feeling plastic, a gloss smooth front, removable mesh grilles, the knobs have a very good feel to them (good solid and "comfortably firm" resistance to turning) - i.e., good "button test". Third, after fixing them (see below) they sound FANTASTIC, especially for NOT having the x.1 separate subwoofer, and again, especially for their relatively unobtrusive size. The separate bass and treble knobs by the volume knob allow simple adjustment to suit your liking right on the speakers.
