I own a much older NAS, but it is very slow and did not support Apple Time Machine. In comparison, drive access to the Buffalo NAS is much quicker. I like the space limits by User & Group account and the Cloud access is a nice feature too.

This QNAP runs quickly and quietly. The VM is Microsoft Server 2019, and it is very fast. I have it configured to boot off of a RAID-1 SSD drive array, and the AMD Ryzen processor is very fast. Adding RAM and the SSD drives was EASY. Very nice design on the case, easy access 3 screws and that was it. I added five 16-TB drives in RAID-5, and it is used as a Veeam Offsite Repository target server.

Easy setup, when knowing exactly what you need. Recommend adding RAM, any DDR4-sodimm. I used 3200 even though 2666 is recommended and it works. Great server for plex!

I was impressed with how the unit was packaged, the included accessories and the unit's design. UGREEN'S attention to details is top notch. I easily installed both of my drives on the unit's HDD rails, slid them in and booted up. I opted for a local configuration only (no UGREEN ID or web access) over LAN. UGOS is minimal but effective: configuration, diagnostics, basic apps, user management, etc. I also installed the UGREEN NAS app on my iPhone, which also works good.

This is the 3rd Synology NAS that I have owned. This one has the AMD chip in it so it is also the fastest. The hardware itself is excellent, but what makes these products really shine is the apps produced by Synology. If you are going to use this for running virtual machines, I would recommend bumping the memory to at least 20 Gbytes.
