4 out of 5 eggsLOGITECH M570 Wireless Trackball

Pros: Great battery life. Great distance. Programmable buttons. Unifying USB receiver. When not in use, has an ON/OFF switch. A light on top tells you when it is trying to connect or when the battery is low. Can I use two of these in the same room on two different computers?

Cons: I have several Trackman Marble's, so the trackball is all I use. The M570 is almost perfect, but it is made for children because of the button placement. I have a very hard time using the right mouse button because it is an inch too far to the left. So - I have to keep moving my hand to find it. This loses one egg. Also the scroll wheel is hard to push. When you can hit it, the wheel scrolls at the same time unless you hit it dead center.

Other Thoughts: The button placement on the Trackman Marble was perfect.
Three fingers, three buttons placed perfectly.
.
On the M570 two buttons. where's the third?
If they keep the scroll wheel and use the current right button
as the MIDDLE PUSH BUTTON (instead of pushing a scroll wheel), and added a button for the right mouse button,
then this would make it perfect.

3 out of 5 eggsGot a replacement

Pros: Great mouse. Absolutely ergonomic. I couldn't ask for anything more from it.

Cons: After a year and a half, the mouse started dying on me. It started losing connection and two or three months later, I got a replacement from Logitech. It finally completely died, and hopefully the replacement will outlive it.

Other Thoughts: The three year warranty was great, and Logitech was great to deal with. I absolutely love this mouse and I've even recommended it. I have the older trackball, the one with the red ball and wired version, and that has perfectly fine, but it has no back and forward button like this one. It may be a quality reason or it may be due to how the mouse has to be made in the wireless version. I'm not an engineer so I can't comment on that, but I can say that as far as I know, this is the best trackball mouse out there.

3 out of 5 eggsA solid mouse with a twice-failed microswitch

Pros: Overall comfortable/ergonomically designed well, good mfr. customer support

Cons: Had a replacement sent after a microswitch failure on the first mouse, now the second microswitch is starting to fail

Other Thoughts: The microswitch is the Achilles' Heel of this mouse.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: None at this time. When I actually receive a M570 910-001799 Black, I will evaluate it

Cons: Twice received a M570 810-serial (older model, dark gray metallic-like, less expensive) trackball in a M570 910-serial box. Look under the battery...s/n is printed on the battery cradle.

Other Thoughts: Two RMAs for the same issue...you can draw your own conclusion as to what is going on.

1 out of 5 eggsShort lived cheap hardware

Pros: A nice mouse for the first 6 months or so. I find when I start to have issues with my hands/wrists it's great to switch to a different input device for a while and this one used to provide a nice alternative.

Cons: I'm done with Logitech products. I've been buying their relatively high-end expensive mice for years and the quality, and lifespan, is just getting worse. This is an expensive mouse yet seems to use the cheapest possible switches and springs for the buttons. Logitech could have spent just a few pennies more per switch and had a quality product, but instead they use the least expensive Chinese parts possible and/or they simply don't care. The switches in these mice are the same ones that fail in the disposable no-name mice costing just a few dollars.

My other Logitech gaming mice have had chronic issues with the wheels failing or getting too stiff to use, the buttons becoming unusable, and the cheap USB cables going bad on the corded mice. Considering they all are near the top of the range price-wise, it's just inexcusable.

Other Thoughts: As others have reported, Logitech's customer service for a warranty replacement seems to be designed to make you give up. They've turned into yet another company that only seems to care about maximizing their profits and milking their brand name and market share.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all

Pros: I can lounge and run my computer from my recliner!!!

Cons: I have two cons, neither would be cause to return the unit.

1) Strange, but it seems that the trackball hic-ups sometimes depending on positioning (held up, sitting on certain surfaces or using it at certain angles?)

2) I also purchased a logitech wireless keyboard. I had hoped to use only 1 USB slot for both, but can't seem to get them to both be recognized by a single receiving unit.

Other Thoughts: I had reservations about buying Logitech because of problems I've had with Logitech drivers in the past. I am incredibly happy that I have not had any strange driver issues with this device.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very comfortable ergonomics, tracks well, I love the forward/reverse buttons for web-browsing. One of the few thumb-ball mice, and it's wireless. I have been using it for almost a year, and still have yet to change the AA battery.

Cons: The tiny rollers that hold the ball need occasional cleaning to keep the ball rolling smoothly. Also, the tracking for the ball isn't pinpoint, so this is a mediocre gaming mouse.

Other Thoughts: Overall I love this mouse, but I often go to my other logitech mouse because it has a hyperscroll wheel, which makes for smooth scrolling.

Pros: We have a hundred or so of these. No issues. Work great.

Cons: Need batteries... If you call that a con.

Other Thoughts: None.
