4 out of 5 eggsWorks like a Champ!!!!

Pros: Ease of install, No drivers to load. No problem on a HP Window 8.1 computer. GREAT Price!!!

Cons: Port on inside useless, power connecter not used in newer computers. Could have included a adapter for new computers

Other Thoughts: I had to rob a connector from a older computer, and tap connect it in the wiring of the power supply. No video software is not include.

1 out of 5 eggsNot what 1 reviewer said it was...

Pros: It is recognized in Windows 7 x64, plug-n-play

Cons: It DOES NOT have the Texas Instruments chipset.

Other Thoughts: I built a new system with a Z97 Intel chipset and of course it does not come with onboard Firewire 400 for my Echo AUDIOFIRE interface, so I needed this card. In the days of Firewire there were many issues with every chipset other than the TI chips. I bought this in 2009 for a future system (or just in case), thinking that this card had the TI chip. Now, 5 years later, I open the plastic and find out that it has the VIA chipset. I've already experienced problems with this and my audio interface after 2 days. Keep in mind, I ran my Gigabyte X58 board with onboard TI Firewire 400 chipset for nearly 5 years with no issues, EVER.

1 out of 5 eggsInternal port is useless

Pros: It has 2 exterior connectors.

Cons: The internal Connector is NOT a 9-pin connector which is what ALL cases use for the front USB/Firewire connections. Just what the hèll are you supposed to do with a regular port ON THE INSIDE!? All the companies make it this way yet you CANNOT FIND an adapter plug to remedy this situation. Such dumbassès these manufacturers can be.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what I needed it to!

Pros: Does exactly what I needed it to. Came with a 6 pin to 4 pin firewire, which I wish I knew about beforehand.

Cons: Nothing really.

Other Thoughts: Didn't come with any extra screws for mounting on the PCIe IO slots. Though, I guess that would be the case's job to supply them, which is why I wouldn't say it is a con. The case I was using didn't include them, so I just stole them from an unused computer.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Plug and Play into Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, no additional drivers required.

Using to transfer DVCAM from a Sony DSR-20 deck directly into Vegas Pro 13. Processed a couple dozen tapes last week after receiving the card with no dropped frames, freezes, or glitches of any type.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Card ships with both full height and low-profile pci slot brackets. Also ships with a 4pin-to-6pin 1394 cable.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great, Less filling.

Pros: Plug it in. Turn it on. Off you go. What could be easier?

Includes low-profile bracket.

Includes data cable

Cons: Does not give any clue as to why/when you need a separate power source (Moles connection).

SATA power splitter and adapters are not easy to find. I used an external power supply at first, but the board seems to get along just fine without it.

Other Thoughts: The board is mercifully trouble free.

A power adapter would be a nice add on that I'd be happy to pay for.

I use it to transfer video from an ol camcorder (Sony Digital Hi8). A trouble free, if tedious, exercise

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Internal and external ports, PCIe, easy install, inexpensive. Windows 7 64 bit found it and installed the drivers automatically. The internal port would be nice if you had a front plate on your chassis with a Firewire port.

Cons: Nothing really, although I did not realize the card needed a power connection. Not a big deal as it's just a molex connection though.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to hook up an old external Firewire drive to a PC that had no Firewire ports.

I forgot how fast Firewire is, it feels like it's not even an external drive.

5 out of 5 eggsFirewire Card Works Great.

Pros: Worked great without any need for installation of drivers

Cons: Difficult to get technical support info.

Other Thoughts: My new Asus Z87 motherboard wouldn't recognize this card at first because the slot had been disabled due to thunderbolt on the Asus Expert MB. By moving it to another slot, it worked perfectly. I discovered this problem by closely examining the BIOS.

4 out of 5 eggs1394 I/F

Pros: Easy Install
Works great

Cons: Be careful plugging in the required 4 pin HDD power cable. You can bend the connector off the board as it is only held on by the soldered contacts and two plastic pegs.
No included cable to connect to a front panel 1394 connector.

Other Thoughts: Use this with a Presonus Firebox for recording and does fine. Intel 4770 on Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H

4 stars because of the somewhat fragile power connector and no FP cable.

2 out of 5 eggsUNDER-whelmed

Pros: Good price, HDV capture works fine. Pretty simple install.

Cons: Will NOT capture DV footage in W7, I have been in the videography business for many years and built several editing machines so I have a general idea what I am doing. This card just REFUSES to capture DV footage. I have reloaded Windows and all drivers. Tried the "legacy" driver, all to no avail in any capture solution. HDV Capture works well though. It is infuriating.
