5 out of 5 eggsNo frills claw-grip gaming mouse

Pros: NO EXTRA DRIVERS REQUIRED! NO EXTRA SOFTWARE REQUIRED! I can't tell you how much that means to me. Precise sensor, overall small footprint, a couple of extra re-mappable buttons, solid feeling scroll-wheel, claw-grip design that fits my hand like a glove.

Cons: May take some getting use to if you move your mouse with your palm ("Palm-grip"), not a very good palm-grip mouse. I kinda wish there was one more level of DPI adjustment, but 3 levels (snail/sniper, normal, tweaker/run-n-gun) is fine.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded to this mouse coming from a Razor DeathAdder, and I hated the fact that I needed to bog my computer with bloatware I was only going to use once and never see again (who needs their mouse to connect to the cloud!?). The Xornet is a simple, no frills gaming mouse. You plug it in, adjust sensitivity within your system and application, and go. This also comes in at a very attractive MSRP, but I can often find it cheaper than MSRP, which really sweetens the deal. I wasn't expecting much, but anything was better than a generic optical mouse I was using between the DeathAdder and this Xornet. I was very pleasantly surprised with the Xornet, and I highly recommend this mouse for anyone looking for a simple, precise, 5-button mouse..

3 out of 5 eggsGreat... intermittently stops working

Pros: Love the way it feels in my hand, button placement is nice. Great when it's working

Cons: It worked perfectly for about 6 months and then suddenly it stopped working right. It would intermittently stop moving, so I stopped using it. I recently plugged it back in and it worked perfectly again... for a few hours and then did the same thing over again. It seems to work when it wants to work

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse!!!

Pros: I haven't had it that long, but everything is great! Love that I can change my DPI... this mouse just feels good and flows right. I have it just on my desk with no pad and it works great.

Cons: I hate that awkward "cord break in" time when the cord won't go where you want, but no eggs removed =)

Other Thoughts: A friend recommended this mouse to me, and I will recommend it to you.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mouse

Pros: This mouse has a great feel to it. The 4 and 5 buttons are the thumb are great for MOBAs

Cons: The optical sensor is more centered than I was used to. It took a bit to get used to that.

5 out of 5 eggsWill never use another mouse again.

Pros: I have been buying this mouse over and over due to countless game raging and breaking it. It is very affordable, and it fits the "claw" type grip perfectly. I have bought 4 of them, and keep one in my closet as a spare for when this one breaks.

Cons: Wish it had just one more DPI setting higher than the max, but the CM storm Spawn does that for a higher price.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Mouse, for a while

Pros: Good wide mouse for medium Large Hands

Nice rubber side grips

DPI On the Fly

Good Tracking

5 Buttons

Cons: Failed after a few months

Other Thoughts: Im not sure of the Firmware update ruined it or if it just decided to poop all over itself. It started randomly disconnecting itself. I could live with it but not as a heavy gamer.

I beat myself up for about a week trying to figure out why until I swapped it out for another CM Storm Xornet that I got my youngest in January. His mouse works fine with no intermittent failing, indicating the mouse itself has failed.

I will say that the thing is pretty durable. I smashed it into the desk once, grabbed it by the cord and whipped it down onto a metal case and chucked it at the wall, trying to destroy it. I finally had to rip it in half to actually break it - and then I was able to snap it back together and it still functioned. The only truly visible damage was the mouse wheel, having one of its pegs broken which left it leaning sideways.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best budget mouse, hands down.

Pros: Where to start...

This mouse is the best in this price range, period. CM runs mail-in rebates on this thing quite often, and it often drops down to $10 at that point. I was amazed by how good it was for the price.

I use a fingertip grip, so this mouse is perfect. The odd shape may throw some people off, but if you use claw or fingertip, it's probably the best mouse shape there is out there. The groove to rest your ring finger is placed just right, and the short body of the mouse combined with the width makes it very easy to lift with just two fingers. I only pivot with my wrist, and move the mouse primarily with my thumb and pinky, but the max CPI at 2000 is often enough.

The rubber grips on the side are still free of junk despite using this for over a year, so if you keep your comp area clean you won't run into any problems. The grips make it almost impossible for the mouse to slip out of your grasp, even when using only two fingers, due to the weight of the mouse. The mouse itself weighs ~80g, and the two large pads on the bottom are sturdy and show little signs of wear despite the use.

Cons: Although the sensor is good (ADNS-3050), when tracing in paint you can see a hint of angle snapping (despite the updated firmware) versus a basic optical mouse.

If you have large hands, this mouse is not for you - it's small enough that it would probably be uncomfortable. In the same vein, if you palm your mice, don't buy this - it's very short for a palm grip, and would not be fun to use like that.

Some people have expressed frustration with the cable; it's rubber coated and slightly on the thick side, but it may be too stiff for your tastes. I personally don't have an issue with it, but it is a common complaint.

Other Thoughts: I run on v75 of the firmware, and LOD and angle snapping generally aren't an issue. You may want to play around with the firmware versions, though, if the LOD is not to your liking or you want to change the prediction. The v7x FWs are for better tracking surfaces, while the v5x are for whatever you want to use it on.

Would buy this mouse in a heartbeat again if my current one broke; the grip on this thing is by far the most comfortable to use I've ever seen.

5 out of 5 eggsWay above average

Pros: Good tracking, great claw grip ergonomics. High quality Omron switches and Avago sensor.

Cons: Default firmware presents a ~5mm lift off distance. Annoying when you run out of mouse pad and try to recenter.

Other Thoughts: For this mouse to excel, you need to go to their website and download the latest firmware, which is v75. I ordered mine in November 2013, it came with v70.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse

Pros: Feels good to hold, excellent tracking, convenient navigation buttons, really solid-feeling scroll

Cons: None really, unless you're left handed. Because this is a very right-handed mouse.
