5 out of 5 eggsOwned one year+

Pros: microsoft, red backlighting 3 levels of brightness and off, fly macro controls, microsoft mouse/keyboard software better than i expected, CAN TURN WINDOWS KEY OFF, 3 different profiles, comfortable.

Cons: i bought this on sale for 44.99 like 2 years ago. it is solid for gaming and desktop use. programming the macro keys for two games and desktop use on windows 7 & 8 is easy. use the Microsoft keyboard and mouse software is easy. never had a single problem.

5 out of 5 eggsOne more thing...

Pros: --

Cons: --

Other Thoughts: One more thing, to all the people that have any problems with BF4 or any other games with this keyboard, learn how to use a dang computer and solve the problem. It's NOT the keyboard. I haven't found one game this keyboard isn't compatible with. Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsSidewinder x4

Pros: I have big hands and I like the size of the keys.
back lighting is awesome!
keys don't feel heavy to push down so I never miss a keystroke.
Muiltimedia buttons work great! (Unlike some other keyboards)

Cons: I have 2 things to put here.
1.) I have Windows 7 64bit N, and i had to manually go through the cd to find the installation file. (My computer thought I put in a music CD or something and started playing it?) But if you're a gamer you should have knowledge about computers and it shouldn't be a problem.

2.) Minor but I thought it needs to be said, I wish the Caps lock key and the tab key were a bit more spaced from the Q,A,Z keys, but once you're used to it the problem goes away.

Other Thoughts: The F1-F12 keys are small, I don't think its a con or pro, but creative, they are some of the less used keys, and it save space! Which in my situation was great.

The program is a bit confusing at first, but it started to clear up once i selected the right keyboard... it has a huge list of keyboards and i thought the program was just for this keyboard, my fault.

2 out of 5 eggsMicrosoft Epic Fail

Pros: This keyboard LOOKS great. ALso, while not mechanical keys the response time for key presses is excellent.
The backlighting is fantastic and has adjustable intensity settings.
There are programmable macro keys which make this a great keyboard for MMO and other gaming styles.
VERY quiet keystroke sounds.

Cons: The keys are somewhere between the larger mechanical keys and the 'Chiclet' key sizes. They are a little too small and way too close together. It is almost impossible to press 'A' without also hitting the caps lock. I really was disappointed with this. It is simply bad engineering and Microsoft can afford better. They listed this as a gaming keyboard but...the close, non mechanical keys, the key spacing and the inability to turn off the windows function key are all epic fail rookie mistakes from a company THAT HAS NO EXCUSE... ah HA...see that??? That is a caps lock accidental hit example. Now imagine that happening 100 x 100 times a session. Yeah, it gets REALLY old really fast.

Other Thoughts: Microsoft dropped the ball on this one. They tried to make a cheap gaming board with some bells and whistels like backlighting and macro keys in order to sucker people in. Like me unfortunately.

1 out of 5 eggsWeird Issues after 4 months also

Pros: Lights up, feels good, smooth, looks good, has macros and was priced good

Cons: After about 4-6 months, I noticed I had to press certain keys over again to function, but I don't believe it is mechanical in nature at all!
Because it only happened in certain programs, like only in outlook subject line and not in body. It has to be intellitype pro drivers for this keyboard, anyway it got worse and worse until I could no longer use it anymore

Other Thoughts: I bought one because of the overwhelming positive reviews, and after 4 months started experiencing the weirdest issues ever with any keyboard in past 30 years of typing. Who has time to troubleshoot intermittent key issues? Just avoid this keyboard until Microsoft finds the problem so many are having with this combo, mech or software? You'll thanks me in the long run!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard

Pros: Great keyboard. Everything I need without feeling cumbersome. Has a good touch. One year in and keys don't stick. Calculator button is convenient for me...yeah!

Cons: Haven't found a great use for the 6 hotkeys on the left (S1-S6). They don't appear readily compatible with games I play (Dota 2, Starcraft II), so I just work around it with mouse buttons and other combinations.

Other Thoughts: Wish there were options for the LED backlight. I would have gotten white or blue if they were available.

3 out of 5 eggsWell made, but bad key layout

Pros: Great worksmanship on this product. I really wish I felt comfortable giving it a higher recommendation based on hardware alone (see Cons below).

The backlighting is fantastic in low-light situations. Keys feel great, no problems ghosting, no sticky keys, no buffer overflows. Keys are easy to pop off and clean under, compared to what I've used in the past. Key design is good at keeping food, etc debris from falling in.

Very reliable. I am NOT gentle on my equipment (dropped it, tripped on the cord, etc) and this thing has held up like a champ. No sign of wear.

Wrist rest always felt good to me. I sometimes play on a 40" TV from a recliner with the keyboard in my lap, and it is very comfortable from this position as well.

Has a calculator button which I like. Overall aesthetic is visually pleasing.

Cons: My major gripe with this keyboard is the key layout: it's different than any other keyboard I've ever used and feels extremely unintuitive. I am 6'1 with large hands and have the same problems numerous others have mentioned: hitting the wrong keys, hands losing the 'home' position while gaming, etc. Typing is also a little bit harder (not that you cared about that, right?).

Having gamed for 10+ years on 'normal' layout keyboards, I just can't the hang of using it even after a year. If you have no problem switching between different key layouts, e.x. standard to laptop to mac, etc. then go for it. If you have a hard time gaming on laptop keyboards or other small keyboards, I suggest looking elsewhere.

The up/down volume buttons don't work great, a knob would have been better. No easy access Windows Key disable like a lot of gaming keyboards feature.

Other Thoughts: No Macro/function keys, I'm neutral on this because I don't use those anyways.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard!

Pros: Comfortable to use; the keys feel really nice when typing. Really like the fact that the board adjusts to various applications. The lights are also pretty neat.

Cons: It's a pretty large board considering that it comes with a numerical keypad, but that was to be expected.

Other Thoughts: I haven't gotten many chances to use this bad boy but I'm liking what I've seen so far. Will provide more feedback if anything changes!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works well. Nicely laid out and I really like the red LEDs. Easy on the eyes but bright enough to see. Very responsive but the keystroke is a little long.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My old microsoft media keyboard finally died and I needed a replacement. After having been on an old PS2 keyboard for a month this is just lovely.
