5 out of 5 eggsgood stuff

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 997069

Pros: - Runs as advertised without fuss.

- Heatsinks are not overly flashy, but definitely give a sense of quality.

Cons: - None. It's RAM. It works well. Buy It.

Other Thoughts: I have two sets of this stuff running rock solid in my primary rig, with one set dedicated to a RAM Disc. (I do a lot of photo editing)

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing Mushkin.
We appreciate your feedback and support.

3 out of 5 eggsWell.

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 997069

Pros: Simple design, if there's one thing i can't stand its flashy computer parts that are going into a case anyways.

Cons: Well I ran into BSOD screens and random restarts within minutes of booting up, after moving sticks around in the DIMM slots and running memtest86 I was able to determine that one stick is bad. (ran over 500000 errors before I just ended up stopping) The other stick is fine and 8 gigs plus my older ram should get me by till I can RMA for a refund/replacement.

Other Thoughts: Problems happen and I half expected something to be wrong for the price I paid for them. I'll update on how the RMA goes later on but it being chirstmas it might be awhile till i can sort this out.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 997069

Pros: Rock solid memory that is easy to OC. I always get Mushkin when I can for any build. They make great stuff dedicated for AMD and Intel.

Cons: I wish the latency was lower. Make sure you select the correct line of memory for AMD or Intel for maximum OC ability.

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 997069

Pros: I wish I could tell you.

Cons: Simply put, the RAM was DOA.

Other Thoughts: As much as I would like to be able to write a positive review, I can't when the RAM didn't work.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality stuff.

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 997069

Pros: -Just put this in my sons new PC and it works great.

-You know how you can tell quality just by the touch of something? Well, you can feel the quality in this RAM.

-I didn't have to wrestle with the Mushkin package to get the RAM out.

Cons: Nothing really. But I'll add the following for anyone who was thinking the same thing as I was:

-The heatsinks aren't as small as they look. They extend about as high as the popular ripjaw RAM does. So if you're looking for more clearance room under a big CPU heatsink/fan, this might not do the trick.

However, because it's 2 x 8GB we only need 2 of the 4 available RAM slots, so we can leave the RAM slot closest to the CPU open and unused.

(to explain in a bit more detail: We're using a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H mobo with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cpu heatsink & fan. With the ripjaw RAM, I had to raise the cooling fan on the heatsink just a hair or two to give it a couple millimeters of clearance for the 4th RAM slot. Now, with 2 x 8GB, I don't need any RAM in that 4th slot, so I lowered the fan and problem solved. Now if I can only do something about my OCD.)

Other Thoughts: These things look very sharp. They're not loaded up with anything other than the simple Mushkin logo and name which can make some things look tacky and gaudy. This RAM does not look tacky and gaudy. It just looks SHARP. I wish more makers would do the same and keep it simple.

5 out of 5 eggsMushkin Black DDR3 1600

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 997069

Pros: Quality memory. Heatsinks are sturdy, but not bulky. 16 gigs of RAM, dont know if I'll ever use it to its full capacity.

Cons: none, really.

Other Thoughts: Installed on a ECS A990FXM-A mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135345). Works flawlessly.

I have 2 laptops, 3 desktops, and one Media Center in my house, all running on Mushkin RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM, minor setback!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 997069

Pros: Heatsinks are small, so they aren't bothersome when it comes to wiring or larger fans.
Nice aesthetics.

Cons: Had to RMA the first pair of modules because they each failed the Memtest86+ with over 1,000 errors each.

Other Thoughts: Other than the fact that the first set was defective, I still like this brand of memory and their modules very much.

3 out of 5 eggsGood-ish

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 997069

Pros: One stick works perfectly!
My 4 year old 2x2gb mushkin blackline still works perfectly too!

Cons: The other stick is deffective - will see if I can return it to Mushkin for a replacement.

Other Thoughts: Got this ram for Christmas and got random BSOD and decided to run Memtest86+ turns out one stick is good but the other starts putting out errors immediately after the first test and the errors tally near the thousands by the end of the tests.

I had a 2x2 GB mushkin blackline for 3 years and intend to keep buying mushkin even though I have had this little hickup - provided of course they honor the limited lifetime warranty - sometimes a product is defective but it doesn't mean the company is bad or that other products will be defective - I also have a Mushkin Callisto SSD and it's still as fast as the day I got it.
