4 out of 5 eggsDoes everything, limited bios features

Pros: Has every option you could ever need hardware wise in a m-itx for factor. Plays games well with APU, and even better with full graphics. Can overclocked nicely, has voltage and multiplier options as well as hewtsyncs in the vrms. Buy this for your m-itx gaming box and don't buy XBox One.

Cons: Bios is lacking a few key features. Will not control 3 pin fans in either port, cannot find option to increase video mem for APU (stuck at 512MB), fan profiles are basic, and the windows software from gigabyte lacks fan features as well. Also, the board layout is atypical, but not a problem as long as you're aware before purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsReview Update 15 Months Later

Pros: Stable board. Everything just works, both with Richland (and after BIOS flash) Kaveri CPU's, even now 15 months later.

Cons: No real ones. I would have preferred a BIOS option to disable WiFi and Bluetooth as I don't use them, but that is a small gripe.

I don't see the need for WiFi on something that isn't going to move around, as wired Ethernet is so overwhelmingly superior.

For the price I would have preferred to see them use higher quality Intel wired Ethernet chips, and anything non-Realtek for the sound, and instead just ditch the wireless, but that's just me.

Other Thoughts: I was shocked to find that this little board got so many bad reviews seeing that I have had nothing but good experiences with it, so I decided to write an updated review 15 months later.

I can only assume that most of the issues reported here are user error.

This board has been serving as my HTPC with daily use since 2013 with not as much as a hickup. It has been one of my better purchases over the years.

Back when I originally got mine, it was before the Kaveri launch, so it did not have the BIOS to run Kaveri, but once Kaveri launched, I picked one up, flashed the BIOS and swapped it in. I assume that current boards are shipping with a Kaveri supporting bios.

1 out of 5 eggsGigabyte F2A88XN

Pros: None

Cons: No graphics signal from board after turning on. I know the board was getting power since the system fan and cpu fan were running but I got nothing else. Couldn't even get to see if I had a BIOS issue or any other issue mentioned in the reviews.

Other Thoughts: I was a big fan of Gigabyte. Have used their motherboards in my last 5 builds, not an issue with any of them. Trying a mini-itx board for the first time and I get a dud. It's to bad Gigabyte use to make a great product.
Buyer beware.

2 out of 5 eggs2 bad boards = DONE!

Pros: nice form-factor = ITX
built-in AC wireless worked out of the box
USB3 (if it worked)

Cons: USB flaky on BOTH boards. Worked initially but failed within a few hours of operation on the first board, and USB didn't work out of the box on the replacement.

Other Thoughts: I should have paid better attention to the reviewers who mentioned there were issues with USB. I went ahead anyway thinking it was just their bad luck - nope. USB failed on the original board, replaced it with an identical MB and USB was bad on the replacement as well. In this case, Premier paid for itself a couple times over. Still though, what a waste of time. Don't be a fool like me - go with one of the other mfrs.

5 out of 5 eggsGA-F2A88XN-WIFI FM2+ review

Pros: Pros:
*Intel Wireless-AC 7260 is top quality wireless and bluetooth connectivity and hands down the best in ITX form factor for FM2+
*Mine shipped with the f4 bios which supports kaveri chips 860k / A10 7850k and all the lesser equivalents. I personally am running an A87650k
*true pci-e 3.0 support and also
*XMP ram support which worked perfectly on my 2133 gskill sniper series sticks. "F3-17000CL9D-8GBSR" Also supports 2400 ram with an overclock.
*Enough setting in bios for me to hit 4.5ghz daily overclock with 900core iGPU overclock. Your results may vary though
*high quality vrms, and decent cooling for a 4 phase board.

Cons: Cons:
*Realtek® ALC892 codec is only a mediocre onboard audio solution but I use an external DAC because all onboard audio is inferior anyway...
*Realtek® GbE LAN chip isn't as good as others but it gets the job done.
*only 3 LLC settings (ultra/medium/auto) in the f4 bios that I could access. Only used when overclocking to the limit really though.
* its tough to get the igpu stable and consistent over 900core but i managed to after setting the chip to 95watt mode and overclocking the northbridge from 1800-2000 and setting the northbridge to 1.3volt. I was able to bech at 1200core/4.5ghz and 2400mhz ram (results may vary)

Other Thoughts: *have to use third party software to keep the cpu from throttling back to 3ghz-3.3ghz when the igpu is used in 3d mode/ clocks amd msrtweaker v1.1 is what i used.

Game I benched thoroughly at 1080 are listed in my thread on "overclock dot net" under 7850k with benches.

A ram mhz overclock even if you have to loosen the timing will help ingame them most.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with Any A-Series CPU

Pros: None, it never posted.

Buy Beware!

Cons: Doesn't work with Kaveri (A10-7850K).
Doesn't work with Richland (A4-6300).

Support did not help. Waste of Money.

Other Thoughts: After 2 months of back and forth with Gigabyte....I gave up, through the board out, and bought the ASRock FM2A88X-ITX. The new board worked perfectly. Gigabyte is shipping boards that are either DOA or have very old bios on them which make them equally unusable.

Buy Beware!

4 out of 5 eggsGigabyte rocks.

Pros: mother board did as expected , performed straight out of the box, easy setup easy connect , wireless is amazingly fast as expected.
Clocked the same results on speedtest.net as my wired pc, yes it's only been a short time but i've also seen horror stories in short time will report again in six months.

Cons: one con so far, if like me you prefer windows 7 over 8 then beware you will need a cd rom to get this going. windows seven sees no drivers for this board, it will setup via usb but will not see it after setup completes, to get drivers you need cd rom or go to other means to install them. beyond that no complaints so far , still happy and excited with board

5 out of 5 eggsVery good board

Pros: Everything. Wifi was recognized immediately by linuxliteos. Using it for htpc in 4 year old hp slimline case. Have 16 gigs gskill ram, A6 6400K APU, 700 gig hard drive. Streams great even though 40 feet away from router. Booted up immediately, Was very fast and easy to install linuxliteos.

Cons: Somewhat high priced.

Other Thoughts: The reviews almost kept me away from this board. Happy this board worked great right away. Had trouble with 2 gigabyte boards booting up the past few years after building systems. On one had to have the bios cleared first. The other only booted first time after using the screwdriver on power pins technique. After that the boards are running great. Makes one wonder if some boards are not DOA, but need these tricks occasionally.

1 out of 5 eggsDied, RMA was DOA

Pros: Board layout (perfect for Bitfenix Prodigy), included AC WiFi

Cons: Only two fan headers (one 4-pin CPU, one 3-pin SYS)

Other Thoughts: My first one died after one year of light use (small bedroom workstation computer for spreadsheets and web browsing). I was able to explain what happened, and what I did about it, with a tech from Gigabyte quickly and easily via their online support ticket system, and was able to send the board out for RMA (I had to pay shipping). When the board returned, it appeared to be a replacement (though I could be wrong), and when I rebuilt the system, after some testing, I found the replacement board was dead. I'm not sure what I want to do at this point, but I'm quite sure I'll be replacing the board with something else, which will no doubt get expensive.
