5 out of 5 eggsWas what I needed

Pros: Needed to do a whole comp rebuild after last one died. Bought this mobo for the onboard video and ddr3 capabilities (building to make it last). So far, no problems what so ever. Looks good, runs well, and even the onboard video runs WoW 25 man raids at 30 fps with mid-range settings. ATI Crossfire will help you tie in this card with another card if you want...can't wait to try that.

Cons: None Yet

Other Thoughts: My Comp:
RaidMax ATX Mid Tower - from newegg.com
Gigabyte AM3 AMD 785G HDMI - from newegg.com
AMD Athlon X2 240 Regor 2.8Ghz - from newegg.com
ATA Gaming Series 4GB DDR3 Memory - from newegg.com
WD Caviar Green 1TB HDD - from newegg.com
Windows 7 Home Premium - from newegg.com

All that for under 500 with shipping. Not to shabby.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate sound drivers!

Pros: MOBO is good, I'm happy so far.

Cons: The sound only worked intermittently, until I upgraded the sound drivers from the Gigabyte website, all good since then.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board for the money

Pros: This board does exactly what I wanted it to do so far. It runs everything well and has plenty of connections for all my devices.

Cons: Occasionally, my 5.1 Logitech speaker system (analog) will not have sound come out of the left speaker. I open up the Realtek manger and futz around with the plugs in the back of pc and it starts to work again, could be Logitech, could be the mobo.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this for my first ground up pc build
- COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW
- AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz
- CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS
- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
- An older WD 80gb for system
- WD 1TB Caviar Green for media

I might possibly try out Starcraft II in the near future to see if the integrated Radeon HD4200 can handle it on lower settings...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy install.......good BIOS.........lots of ports

Cons: 1st was DOA. 2nd has worked perfect for about 3 months. Recently added video card and now runs comparable to my I-7 that cost 2X more. I am a professional trader and do not require anything 3-D, so this thing works perfect for me. I only added the video card because it was on sale and i was suffering from "buysomethingitis". This is a good general use mb.

5 out of 5 eggsHave bought 2 now...

Pros: Have bought two boards now for 2 budget, quality gaming systems. Would highly recommend this for anyone doing the same. Very nice for both unlocking and overclocking, and you can even select individual cores to unlock now, so it's no longer an all or nothing with unlocking dual cores.

Cons: So far, the chipset heatsinks (NB and SB) have been loosely attached. So far haven't had any heat problems (experiences with OCing NB frequency may vary).
Sure the SATA ports are blocked by the graphics card and HDDs, but on a mini, what did you expect?

Other Thoughts: Great for a budget system with plans to upgrade later down the road. Integrated graphics is actually not that bad, I gave it 512MB of my system memory. Saves money by not having to buy a graphics card right away.
Other Random Thoughts:
3dMark06 doesn't load fully when using integrated graphics.
Dual Bios handy for overclocking errors. Also has option to save backup bios to hard drive.
Latest system specs:
2x2GB Gskill Ripjaw series RAM (rated at) 1600Mhz
AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz
Rosewill RCX-Z4 120mm CPU cooler
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GMT-UD2H
APEX TX-381-C Micro ATX Case

5 out of 5 eggsLove this board

Pros: -lots of options in BIOS
-tons of connectors
-overclock friendly for future options (I'm using a AMD Phenom II X3 720 Heka Black edition)
-manual actually tells you what BIOS option does what (my husband's new MSI on the other hand has only a 2 page manual with no explanations whatsoever)
-was able to overclock my G.SKILL 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600 RAM simply by changing the memory clock to manual and upping to X6.66. no other changes necessary
-beautiful board :)

Cons: -Seems hotter than some of the other boards I've owned because of the mATX design. Might be because my RAM is overclocked and kinda close to CPU
-Might be limited to what videocards you can use with this board because of the amount of clearance and SATA ports.

Other Thoughts: Because there are so many options in the BIOS, I can see this board being finicky about what options you decide to choose. I changed a few options out of preference and the board would randomly flake out just beyond the first post screen. Instead of showing the SATA screen, it showed a blinking cursor on the top left and in the middle of the screen, a ";", a small green shaded block, with a big N and a tilde over it. I don't know if it's a bug or anything, but I reset the BIOS options and it's fine now. Other people have had this same problem with other Gigabyte models including this one, but it's not very common. It's been mentioned it may be caused by pressing a key too late...

4 out of 5 eggsGood motherboard, but watch out

Pros: - 4 slots for DDR3 RAM with a maximum of 16GB
- AM3 socket with support for Phenom II (X6 might need a BIOS update, which is fairly simple to do with the utility found on Gigabyte's website)
- On-board ATI Radeon HD 4200
- Support for Hybrid CrossFireX
- High-end motherboard for high-end computer

Cons: - SATA ports are partially blocked by any large graphics card
- The first RAM slot is physically too close to the processor, sometimes causing it to overheat and have errors (which disappear when cooled down, but still causes crashes and corruption)
- The hard disk bays are in line with any large graphics card, causing the hard disks to receive heat from the card

Other Thoughts: Great motherboard, just beware of the RAM location problem if your processor generates a lot of heat (such as a Phenom II X6), but it will work even if there is no RAM in slot 0, so you can shift your RAM away from the processor if using less than 4 sticks.

1 out of 5 eggsWAS good.

Pros: Board is nice for the money, but ultimately failed me completely. After getting my rig up and running, fully tweaked (99% stock settings) no OC, no crazy voltage increases, just a nice build with everything setup correctly.

When the board works, it works very well, has a nice layout and looks cool too.

Cons: About 7 months into owning this board it took a dump on me, and refuses to get past a specific section of the start up. I can't get it to load an OS, boot to a CD, it's dead completely in the water.

I contacted Newegg, and they had me contact Gigabyte. I filed an RMA request, since then 2+ weeks have passed without any updates on my request. I've called and left messages, and e-mailed them but GIGABYTE has not ONCE gotten back to me.

Minus 2 eggs for failing in the first place < 1 year into a stock config.

Minus 2 more for GIGABYTES AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE in helping me get a working computer again.

Also of note- if you have a graphics card installed there's no way to use the on-board HDMI to watch media.

Other Thoughts: This will be the last time I purchase anything from Gigabyte, the way that I've been ignored by their tech support is unacceptable.
