5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: Worked out of box, nice features, what more can you ask for?

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is my first build and newegg really made this a great experience. I am still learning about computers and i really don't know what this MB is truly capable of but i plan to find out!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board, but...

Pros: Quality construction, looks good, good onboard audio, many sata connections, very thorough manual. BIOS makes OC easy.

Cons: Odd size. Falls short of last set of support posts in ATX mid sized case, so the last 3 or so inches of the board have no back support. While installing RAM, the board flexes...can't be good...so, you need to hold the edge of the MB with one hand while installing RAM with your other hand. Not ideal.

Other Thoughts: My MB came with the most recent version of BIOS, F9. However, I was getting 3 random BSOD errors per day. After a clean install of my OS and reinstalling programs/drivers, the random BSOD problem remained. I tested my RAM & HDD...all good.

I ended up moving my HDD SATA cable from the GSATA2_0 slot on the MB to the SATA2_0 slot...and, no more BSOD. I have no RAID arrays set up, but for whatever reason, the extra RAID capabilities of the GSATA connectors were causing errors.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Great motherboard with plenty of options on board and in the BIOS. Perfect for the price! Runs cool and stable.

Cons: This motherboard does not play nicely with the (G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK.) I have read a bunch in regards to this memory and this MB. Check the G.Skill forums and there are many many people who have issues with this memory and motherboard combination. I have gotten the memory to run semi-stable at 1066 (using the G.Skill technical support settings for this specific motherboard) but it still crashes after about an hour of use. I have changed the settings to every setting configurable but this memory is not stable at 1066 with this board. I have clocked the memory down to 800 MHz and it seems to run fine. I also updated the MB firmware to the latest F9.

Other Thoughts: Still a great motherboard for the price, everything is in perfect position.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Board

Pros: Everything about this board is excellent. Strong, deep bios. Perfect placement & quantity of SATA ports. Solid sinks for the bridges. Great arrangement of the RAM in relation to other components. All of the plugs were placed in great fashion as well. Oh, and they include a ton of cables.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsmerickson

Pros: Great motherboard! Love the way the heat sink & fan are mounted to the CPU -- almost to easy. The BIOS is also easy to setup. I have not had any problems thus far -- thanks Gigabyte for a super product and Newegg for a good price!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I wish it had a LPT1 port; however, it was time for me to move on to other advanced connections. This really was not a big deal for me - I needed this excuse to rid myself of a dinosaur laser printer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Very solid board for any build, tons of features and great for OCing. One of the best MB manuals I've ever seen. 8 sata connectors, the rear sata connector expansion was actually a selling point for me and it's as great as I hoped it would be (I repair/upgrade Xbox HDs). Works perfect.

Cons: The board is actually slightly smaller than a standard ATX board and it doesn't line up with the three forward screws in the case, gigabyte or themaltake(my case) didn't include those little plastic standoffs either but I found some in my screw bin.

Other Thoughts: This board rocks, easy to install and setup and the manual is great for novice builders. It's fast and stable with tons of features and alot less than some enthusiast boards while still capable of high end applications. I'd recomend it to anyone that want's a decent AMD based system but is cost consious.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked great right out of the box, good documentation, easy installation, and nice bios features. Turning out to be a great board for the 1st time overclocker thanks to idiot-proof type features like dual bios. Compared to my old intel board it seems very sturdy. Zalman CNPS 9500 AM2 snapped right on and is keeping my conservatively overclocked phenomII x3 720 nice and cool.

Cons: Personally I don't care for some of the bundled software like et6 and the "green" power conservation app (ended up removing that one). Also gigabytes @bios in-windows bios updater didn't pull the newest bios version (f9) from their update server so had to do that manually. A few areas in the documentation & on the giga site have unclear "engrish" that left me scratching my head. Overall very minor cons.

Other Thoughts: 4gb A-data DDR2 800, EVGA GTX 260 core 216 superclock, Antec 650 earthwatt, the Zalman cooler mentioned above, Arctic 5 cpu goo, WD caviar black HD, win7 64. I'm an OCing newbie just learning the ropes. Running right now at

- Clock Speed: 3314.9 MHz (2800 stock rated Phenom II x3 720)
- Bus xMulti: 200.9 x 16.5
- RAM Speed: 800 MHz
- Vcore: 1.312v

These settings have passed a 4hr Prime95 stress test with 33c core temps, measured by Everest. As my experience grows I'll push further but as of right now I'm happy with stock voltage running stable at 3.3ghz ice cold. Cheers to gigabyte & amd!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo!

Pros: Many many features
Overclocks great
Dual bios with reset jumper (wish it was a button, but meh)
Easy setup and pretty good documentation.
Works with Phenom II BE out of the box, no bios flashing needed.
Has manual OC and auto OC features :)
Very durable, with the 2 oz board, this board doesnt flex much, and is very heavy, i had no problems attaching the heatsink and not sweating if i was gonna snap the board. :)

Cons: The MOFSET heatpipe/heatsinks are HOT! I want to get a aftermarket cooler for them... they're almost searing hot.
The SATA bank faces sideways so depending on the case you may have one hell of a time trying to get the cables to fit without breaking the connectors.
There are 2 Power LED headers... I'm not sure which to use, apparently after reading the manual the one alone (about a inch above the normal bank of front panel/led/button header) will allow the power LED to bink when the computer is in standby but the one in the main bank won't? *shrug*
Wish they could slightly move the CPU towards the back of the board... my cooler (freezer pro 7 blocks the 1st ram slot from my ram, i have the OCZ reaper (with the heatpipes))
One little gripe: the case badge is HUGE! O.o

Other Thoughts: Great board otherwise, paired with the right case, installation is a breeze.

1 out of 5 eggsDDR 1066 Yeah Right

Pros: Good Price; Good for internet use or average everyday use.

Cons: I got this board and had trouble right off the bat. The NIC - lan would not work and after days of changing timings and voltages, as well as 3 different types of memory, I have found this board will not remain stable with DDR 1066 at any voltage or timing set . It will only work at 800.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money on DDR 1066. Get the 800 instead. I don't advise getting this board for gaming.
