4 out of 5 eggsNice board, nice price, slow rebate

Pros: Really liking Gigabyte boards these days. Last 3 have been great, no issues at all and always seem to be priced well. Matched this one up to an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz and it motors along nicely w/ 4GB of G.Skill DDR 1006 RAM. Haven't done any overclocking but I suspect it could be boosted a bit

Cons: None - board is great.

Other Thoughts: Had to deduct an egg for terribly slow rebate processing of late. I get an email confirmation, usually w/in 10 days that they got my rebate submission (which is nice) but then have to wait over 2 months to get my rebate? Why so long? We've got the fastest PC's, the sleekest smart phones, fiber to (some) homes yet rebates still take over 2 months to crank out?

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lots of USB ports. Pretty good tech support. Works really well with Windows XP.

Cons: This board would randomly freeze (usually under medium to high load) with Windows 7. I tried 32-bit & 64-bit Windows 7 Professional. I think there is an audio and/or LAN driver conflict with Windows 7. It would freeze after 5 minutes of playing Battlefield Bad Company 2.

The BIOS is kind of confusing for turning features on or off. For example, the on-board audio is called "Azalia." Took me a while to find that one.

Other Thoughts: I have a Core2Quad Q9400 2.66 GHz CPU, 4 gig's of Kingston Hyper-X memory, & nVidia 8800 GT video card. I tried updating all of the drivers from Gigabyte's site. When that didn't fix anything, I then used drivers directly from www.Realtek.com and my computer would still randomly freeze.

5 out of 5 eggsGigabyte Rules

Pros: I have been a long time user of ASUS motherboards but they always seem to last no longer than 2-3 years before showing some degredation or issue. This mother board installed with my existing CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, Video Card and other parts without problems. Only had to call in to Microsoft to re-validate and confirm I was using my OS on only one computer.

Cons: Does not come with all the extras that ASUS like to include in the high grade mother boards I have purchased in the past.

Other Thoughts: This has been the most stable mother board I have ever had since deciding to get into computers back in 1996. I will continue to be a Gigabyte user until they become less reliable.

1 out of 5 eggstwo bad ones

Pros: good price

Cons: First board had two bad memory slots, when RAM was loaded into them them, computer wouldn't boot. 2nd board worked for a few hours then started getting random software errors, IE and Firefox stopped working, computer started saying my WIN7 wasn't genuine, and this escalated to BSOD, and total failure. Going to try an ASUS from Newegg instead of trying another one of these.

Other Thoughts: First MB that didn't work out of the box in 15 years.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat so far

Pros: Given that all the new intels are 1366 now this board can be had for pretty cheap. It has most of what you'd expect from a higher end board. Tons of ports, 4 slots for RAM, 6 SATA 2.0 (3gb/s) connections, etc. but not SLI or some of the new technologies like USB 3.0 or SATS 3.0 (6gb/s). It's been very stable for me and overclocks very easily even with no experience or technical knowledge (EasyTune6 easy buttons if you aren't comfortable manipulating from the bios).

Cons: Running Windows 7 x64 on this board I had a few driver issues initially. I think only the audio driver gave me any trouble as far as board specific drivers (was a pain to track down because W7 wasn't cooperating with my wireless card for a while). The only installation issue I had was where the PCI-e 2.0 slot butts up against the RAM on the end. You'll want to install the RAM first, which isn't a very big deal, but could be a pain if you were ever just upgrading RAM as it can be difficult to access the first 2 slots while a video card is installed.

Other Thoughts: This is a great board to use in a mid range 775 system. It's not going to offer the same potential as most 1366 boards as you're restricted to older processors, but many of the Core2 Quads have plenty of power still. I've been running a Core2 Duo I got a few years back and will upgrade the CPU soon. After that maybe the video card one more time for this system. I expect it to last a couple more years give or take.

5 out of 5 eggsGood intro board, better price

Pros: Picked up this board a few months ago when I first started to have an interest in OCing. Before I knew anything I popped this sucker in and OCed my q8400 from 2.6 to 3.4 stable, just by changing some fsb and voltages in the bios. I have since obtained a lot more knowledge on the subject of OCing, but I can still say this board offers everything you need if you want to get in to this (extremely addictive) hobby. It's definitely stable and can be put through a lot. This was my first Gigabyte board but it certainly won't be the last

Cons: The only real con of this board is the placement of some of the ports and pins. I would strongly recommend that you map out how you are going to hook up this board before you install it; attempting to do it after I sat my huge 120 extreme heatsink was a serious headache (not to mention some bloodied knuckles).

It might be worth mentioning, but the reason why I intially chose this board over a more expensive Asus p5 series was because of "better" windows 7 support; supposedly the p5 boards slapped a windows 7 approved sticker on the box but there is NO update from Asus that will allow you to run 64 bit, and since I currently have a 64-bit copy thats waiting to be installed, this was a big selling point. I'm still on Vista for the moment, but buyer beware that most 775 boards will give you a lot of issues if you are planning on upgrading to 7. I haven't installed it yet, but will do so in the near future and write back if there are any major issues.

Other Thoughts: Like I said, I would really recommend this board to anyone who is starting to take an interest in OCing and doesn't want to fry a new high-end chip; definitely a cheap upgrade for people who want to start off working on a 775 chipset, before moving up to that fancy new i7.

Not sure what's up with all these people posting negative reviews. Maybe they don't know how to install a mobo. My only suggestion would be to truly understand what you are doing before you go head first in to swapping out your PC components and really screwing up your setup.

1 out of 5 eggsWas not impressed

Pros: Was a good size, everything was easy to access, and was a good price. It handled all my parts extremely well

Cons: Turned the comp off one day after playing a lil WoW. And the next day, I just started getting nothing but error messages. Ran diagonsis and all types of test, even took it to the local Best Buy. Found out, that It was the motherboard, which made me :(

Other Thoughts: I had always thought that Gigabyte was the brand to go with, and since this was my first computer, I thought why not. I'm not impressed with the fact that it crapped on me after 3 months and I can't even return it. Guess I'll try to go with an Asus mobo.

3 out of 5 eggsPlug and Pray

Pros: Decent overall features -- esp. having two P/S ports.

Cons: I can't believe, not a single eSata port! I'm giving this board 3 stars because I haven't installed it yet (will do so this weekend) based on reading all the negative reviews -- my next review will either be a 1 or 5 star along with a followup to that if it fails in the future.

Other Thoughts: Based on the negative reviews here, I still took a chance based on my past experiences with Gigabyte (positive) and ordered this board. I plan to install this weekend with a Q9550 and will post back if it's DOA or if there are any issues. However, I get this unshakable feeling like when I used Windows 3.11 and Windows 95, that even if it works fine for the moment, it's eventually going to crash and fail. I really hope this MB will at least work without issues for 3-5 years -- hence, plug-n-pray :)
