Cooling Fan with Heatsink Fan Speed Controller Clips Bolts Backplate
sweet cooler if you can work through one big issue9/23/2013 5:11:47 AM
Pros: been using variations of this basic model for years and find the cooling performance of this smaller model is still excellent if you have space restraints.
i bought three of these for $25 ea. to use as a cooling solution when i sell my older rigs (reuse the larger/more expensive coolers).
speed controller for the fan is a quality unit just don't slow the fan down too much as you need a little extra voltage to get the fan going again when starting system.
straight forward install process if they included the correct hardware (see cons).
i really like how you can rotate the cooler 360 deg. to fit your personal choose of air flow.
Cons: wth! i know for a fact (because i kept older zelman hardware) that the included m3 machine screws are approx. two threads shorter than the older screws a have.
i dry fit the spring steel cooler hold-down bracket to the plastic base and would only get one and a half threads to engage at best.
Overall Review: get some longer m3 (metric #3) screws but be very careful that they are not too long and destroy motherboard components underneath the plastic motherboard bracket.
also be aware there are sharp edges.
Pros: Fan works, Fan mate works with adjustment in bios
Cons: Support.
Follow up to my 6-26 review. I saw support posted to my review so the next day i called and they said would send me invoice to pay for bracket. I mean you have to have the bracket to use it so i paid it. That was june 30th. As of this date after paying for it i have called back a couple times they said would send it with tracking number because i paid for it. Well 3 weeks later and still no bracket
Overall Review: What good is any item if their is no support. I had a mail in rebate on it so i sent in rebate otherwise i would of sent it back to newegg. So if you get any of these check contents before sending in rebate and if missing anything deal with newegg as zalman has so many online complaints against them you will never get them to honor warranty. They are rated D online only an F rates lower. I hope this saves someone some trouble.
Manufacturer Response:

Great Cooling fan12/1/2005 7:34:34 PM
Pros: I had no trouble at all installing this fan. I started the computer up and used Asus's AI Probe to get the temps and was amazed.
Before (stock fan):
CPU: Idle 38c ~100% ~60c
SYS: Idle 35c ~100% ~39c
After (this fan your reading about)
CPU: Idle 34c ~100% 51c
SYS: Idle 35c ~100% 36c
Yes, the CPU actually idles one degree cooler then the system temp and every once and a while the cpu dips to 33c.
for comparison the room temp is 21c, for the really temp crazy people
Cons: No cons, and mine was not concave on the bottom like some other reviews stated so hopefully that problem is fix.
Overall Review: At first when i started the system it idled at 35c and then i put some load on it and it jumped up quickly to mid 40's. got to 80% load and it climbed to 56c. Then I figured I didnt put enough Artice Silver 5 on so I pulled the fan off and blobbed on a nice dot in the middle and then restarted the comp and got the results above and the temps dont jump around very fast now, nice smooth rise and fall which means the heat is getting to the heatsink.
Tip: make sure you put enough Artice Silver 5 on for good contact.
Pros: this cooler is Absolutely worth every PENNY!!! Cooled my X2 4400 from 52C (100% load) to MAX of 40C
Idle was normally 40C now its at a nice 30C! ALL that while remaining COMPLETELY silent! Way to go Zalman!
Cons: nothing at all!
Overall Review: be careful with the fins... they seem sturdy but can be bent easily
Pros: Performance: Personal experience was a 17°C drop (51-34) in idle temps using Artic Silver 5 thermal grease. Verified temps using CoreTemp (go to thecoolest dot zerobrains dot com and search for CoreTemp)
Ease of installation: Simple to install correctly using the guides on the website.
Price: We would all like more for less, but worth the $$.
Appearance: Nice contrast between LED and copper (if you have a windowed case). Impressive size.
Cons: Watch out for those fins when working inside the case.
Overall Review: Make sure to check your case and MOBO for clearance prior to purchase. No problems with north bridge sink on P5W DH Deluxe. Recommend you use Arctic Silver 5 and clean your processor and heat sink very well with the highest purity isopropyl alcohol you can find. Any impurities/residue will decrease the effectiveness.
SPECS: E6600 OC'd to 3.33mHz, P5W DH Deluxe, Twin2X2048-6400C4, MSI RX1900XTX, WD Raptor 150GB, 2x LITE-ON SHM-165H6S, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty, Thermaltake Toughpower W0103 600W, NZXT LEXA

Base Not Flat10/9/2005 4:11:55 PM
Comments: The base on mine was concave, not flat. I went ahead and installed anyway on my AMD 4800X2. It kept it around 40c idle and 62c running 2 instances of Prime95. I researched online, and several others have also received the new 9500CNPS with a concave base. Even the review at Frostytech noticed the same problem. So I took mine off and sent back to Newegg for an RMA. Hopefully the new one will be flat.
Been with me for a long journey4/21/2018 4:20:54 PM
Pros: This thing in the right case will keep your CPU as cool as competing water coolers can. In the wrong case with stangant air flow - itll keep it from dying.
I first bought this for phenom builds, then I kept it with me through the FX 4000 series, to the 6000 series, and then up to an 8370 before making the jump to AM4 Ryzen 5 1600.
Ive swapped it out for corsair liquid coolers, cooler master tower coolers and I always keep grabbing it off my shelf and putting it back into my case.
Its still cooling as efficiently as the day I bought it, It truly is a timeless design. Pure copper cooling is something of note, the LED hasnt died out on me and its been with me since the DDR2 days.
Cons: The only issue I can see is that when you go to remove it you may get your knuckles nicked by the bare fins, but if you remove your video card and take your time you will be just fine.
Overall Review: Ive seen other people say its terrible for AM4, Ive read that they said its loose - I just want to set the record straight - It fits perfectly.
I was so happy when I realized that AM4 supported this old cooler as I did not want to give it up, the stock cooler makes you remove the brackets and screw it directly into the backplate on the mother board, but if you already have this cooler handy its unecessary to remove the AM4 brackets as this cooler will connect directly to it just as it does with AM2/AM3 brackets.
Pros: This all-copper unit looks fantastic. Fan is very quiet, and the unit cools extremely well; it is currently keeping my OC'd AMD below 52C during heavy use. Installation is a breeze on AM3, AM3+ sockets (if you read the instructions) since the only item required is the spring clip; installation on Asus M5A99FX Pro, and Gigabyte GA-990FXA UD3 took less than 2 minutes.
Cons: None at all.
Overall Review: I read a lot of complaints about how an item is bad because it "doesn't fit". That is not the fault of the manufacturer, but the builder; check the specs on a product before purchasing to ensure it fits. The builder is responsible for measuring things like case dimensions, video card dimensions, number and types of connectors, and CPU cooler dimensions. I guess I'm the Newegg oddball because I always check the manufacturers webpages for specifications and compatibility of various parts when doing a build. As a result I have not had a single item not fit or work properly. Remember the 6 P's : Proper Planning Prevents P!ss-Poor Performance.
