Pros: We have five of these Pioneer drives, acquired over a period of a year or so. They are significantly better in every important respect than the other ten drives (five different brands) that we have. Quieter, smoother, steadier speed, more accurate, faster overall, better at reading scratched DVDs. Using Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim blanks, the Pioneers produced no coasters in their several hundred hours of burning DVDs.

Cons: In the past, the Pioneers sold at a considerable price premium over average burner prices. (However lately the price has become very competitive).

Pros: Quiet, fast, good burn quality.

Cons: Trouble booting from the CD in AHCI mode, dropping it ide works ok.

Overall Review: There is a new firmware v1.06 available from Pioneer Europe that improves burn speed.

Pros: This DVD R Pioneer drive is as good as they get. Very reliable,burns and reads all brands.Well made .Easy install.

Cons: If you want to read or burn DVD Ram discs there is a firmware up date on Pioneers web site.

Overall Review: This is my third Pioneer DVD R that I own.Very reliable,no coasters,quiet, fast open/close tray. Remember this comes with only the drive-no cables. Newegg is the best.Fast shipping. 10 stars for Newegg.

Pros: Great drive. Spins up fast, burns and reads quickly, and is very quiet. Much nicer than the drive I relaced it with.

Overall Review: This is the exact same drive as in the retail DVR-2910 box. No features were changed or excluded between retail and OEM burners as Pioneer has done in the past.

Overall Review: I've always trusted Pioneer with their DVD burners. I had to switch from a SONY drive (which was waaay more expensive) to a Pioneer drive so that I could make proper backups of my Wii games. I haven't had a problem with my backups since I made this switch. Thanks Pioneer!

Pros: Let me say this, you could get faster spoeeds for the money but who really needs it. This is by far the most reliable drive i have ever owned. i have owned 3 (i gave 2 away to a friend who wanted to try it out and eventually bought it off me, cause they liked it so much)...

Cons: Not exactly the quietest but who needs it to be super quiet....its not like its gonna wake up the neighbors or anything...

Pros: Faster for DVDs than the LG Blu-ray drive I bought here. The quietest drive I have ever had. Now I know why Pioneer sells so many drives.

Pros: I have always purchased Pioneer electronics, car stereos, home theater, etc. This drive does just fine for my "cheap" drive. I have a blu-ray rom drive that Id rather not use for installing software, burning media, etc. Just wanted an inexpensive drive to use for these purposes that still would last a while. This one was the choice.

Cons: Anything that could be said in the "cons" section should be fairly obvious due to its price and capability. Its your basic DVD burner w/ no bells and whistles to run up the cost.

Overall Review: For my use, its perfect. I can imagine there are people who are in a similar situation using their 200$ drive to install 4 discs of gaming software, or burn 10 CD's of music in one sitting. Any electronics that have moving parts have a specific life span before it wears out or breaks... This is a great drive to use for anything short of blu-ray. If this one dies, I will just buy another one w/ no regrets.
