Based on Noctua's signature NH-U12 series and fitted with the award-winning NF-P12 fan and NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-U12DX 1366 forms a complete premium quality package that provides outstanding quiet cooling performance for Intel's LGA1366 Xeon 5500/5600 CPUs. The new SecuFirm2 mounting system for LGA1366 is highly convenient and makes the NH-U12DX 1366 a tailor-made drop-in replacement for standard Intel coolers. To make your Xeon 5500/5600 systems quieter has never been so easy!
Caution: The NH-U12DX 1366 can only be used on mainboards that have a backplate with screw threads for CPU cooler installation (such as the Intel reference backplate for Xeon 5500). The cooler is thus incompatible with Xeon 3500 and Core i7 motherboards that don’t have such a backplate. Please choose Noctua's NH-U12P SE2 for these motherboards.
SecuFirm2 for Socket LGA1366Completely pre-installed, the new SecuFirm2 mounting system ensures maximum convenience and extremely short installation time.
Drop-in Replacement for Standard Intel CoolersSecuFirm2 for Socket LGA1366 is fully compatible with the original Intel installation system so that the NH-U12DX 1366 works as a simple drop-in replacement.
NF-P12 120mm Premium FanFeaturing psychoacoustic optimizations and Noctua's premium-grade SSO-bearing, the award-winning NF-P12 is renowned for its exceptional quietness and long-term stability.
NT-H1 Thermal CompoundNoctua's much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding reliability.

Pros: I was worried that these wouldn't fit in the ASUS Z8N-D6 dual Xeon board, since it was standard ATX, but they fit fine.
Installation was a breeze, no problem at all, easier than other large CPU coolers I've had.
Cons: In the ATX board I have, it would not be possible to put two fans on both of the heatsinks, you could put two fans on one of them, but not both, that's not really Noctua's fault, but just in case you are wondering.
Pros: I have these in the workstations I am building for my office using E5620 processors on the ASUS Z8NA-D6 motherboard. I am only doing 1 CPU at the moment but there would be no problem fitting another one of these coolers in in a dual CPU configuration. There is also plenty of height clearance for the memory. These are very quiet coolers and the heat output from the CPUs are very low. Using a Corsair 700D case with four additional 120mm fans. All fans are on motherboard control and are barely above a whisper.
Pros: Super cool. Without overclocking, the i7 920 was running around 19c.... overclocked to 3.8 it idles at ~35c. Fan is quiet.
Cons: Don't forget to get a back plate, does not come with one!
Overall Review: Easy to get on and works flawlessly!

Amazing temps. This product delivers!3/5/2011 9:47:08 AM
Pros: Like I said in the title, I'm getting amazing temps on max load than I had gotten with my old intel stock heatsink. It's a huge change.
Heres the comparison
Intel Stock
idle: 45C
load: 70C
Noctua
idle: 29C
load: 40C
This is a must have!
Cons: ***THIS DID NOT COME WITH THE BRACKETS***
I put it in caps so people would notice this. I'm not mad or anything. It was a hassle to go and order it on amaz*n, and then I had to deal with the horrible UPS service.
Just make sure to order the brackets along with the heatsink.
Pros: Very nice mounting of the heatsink. Can be installed either direction. Good quality fans and hardware. Very painless.
Cons: A little big. Either orientation can interfere with memory slots, first pci-e/pci slot, or 24pin connections. No 4-pin fans.
Overall Review: Has that relatively annoying mounting clips for the fan, but not the most annoying design out there.
Installed and cooled quiet well on dual E5520s on an ASUS Z8PE-D18. If you're looking for quiet fans to use that board as a workstation, this is your cooler.
Not getting the performance promised2/11/2012 12:43:49 PM
Pros: Build quality, amazing silent fan, mounting system is easy, fantastic customer support. Asus P68d Premium can fit all ram slots and there is good clearance everywhere.
Cons: In my case, not getting the performance others are raving about.. Hence teh 3 stars.. Asus P68d Premium can fit all ram slots and there is good clearance everywhere.
Overall Review: I upgraded from a brevious build to a socket 1366. I had bought this Noctua cooler for a core duo system, and it worked fine. Upon finding out that I could order a mounting kit to use my cooler with new mobo, I contacted Noctua to order kit. They sent one to me free of charge, just had to pay shipping! Mounting was easy. Using the cooler, I get great idle temps, in the 30c range, but under a prime 95 load, I approach the Tjmax temps! up to 90c, This is for a 6 core I7-970, not overclocked. I can OC this CPU easily, but couldn't cool it down.
Something must be wrong... I just can't figure it out. I had a quad core i-930 on this, and I get similar high temps. I reinstalled the cooler, put a little less thermal paste, figuring maybe the surfaces weren't mated well, and it improved things marginally, but nowhere near enough to be able to OC and get the results others are reporting. Maybe the mounting kit sent doesn't mate well with the cooler I have. I've build many systems...

Perfect Fit!12/8/2011 11:14:12 AM
Pros: Perfect Fit:
1. In my case (HAF 932: Clearance on side case fan by 1 inch)
2. For my CPU's (Dual Xeon 5620's)
3. For my RAM (KVR1333D3D4R9S/8GHB)*
4. For my cooling needs**
4. For my lifestyle (Sysadmin)
* The fans to have to be removed from the heat sinks in order to get good clearance on the slots closest to each CPU but the clip system makes the fans easy to install/remove. Beats having to remove the CPU cooler and re-apply paste etc. (I have included a vid showing (as best I can) the clearance around the CPU and RAM banks.)
** Stressed all 16 cores simultaneously at 100% for 1 hour. Icy cool :)
Cons: I could see you having clearance issues if you had those RAM sticks with the crazy extended heat dissipating fins, depending on where your RAM banks are in relation to your CPU.
Overall Review: If you are buying this product it's because you have an LGA1366 Xeon 5500/5600 CPU. Please take the comments from people with i7 processors with a grain of salt since these coolers were designed specifically for Intel 1366 Xeon's. If you are MacGyver or Hannibal Smith from the 'A' Team, you don't need to read the product overview before you buy a product. Everyone else I highly recommend it, since it says right in there that these are not designed for i7 processors.
