The MSI MAG 272F X24 is a 27-inch Full HD Rapid IPS gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.5ms response time, and AMD FreeSync Premium, suited to competitive players who prioritize fast, smooth gameplay.
Recommended For
- Competitive FPS and esports players who prioritize fluid motion and quick on-screen response in games such as shooters, fighters, or sports titles over higher resolution.
- Players with a gaming PC that can deliver high frame rates at 1080p and who want a 240Hz display for fast-paced play.
- Gamers who want an IPS panel for broad viewing angles and vivid color while playing competitive games, RPGs, or racing and flight simulators.
- Players who want variable-refresh support to help keep gameplay smooth when their PC’s frame rate fluctuates.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- In fast PC shooters or MOBAs, a system producing high frame rates can use the monitor’s fast refresh to make movement and target tracking appear smoother than on a standard-refresh display.
- When frame rates vary during a game, Adaptive-Sync can match the display’s refresh rate to the GPU’s output to help reduce tearing and stutter.
- In games with dim rooms or shadowed corners, AI Vision can adjust brightness and color to make details in dark areas easier to see.
- For racing games and RPGs, the 27-inch screen provides a larger view than a compact gaming monitor, while the IPS panel and high refresh rate support colorful scenes and smoother motion.
- At a desk shared by a gaming PC and another HDMI or DisplayPort device, the available video inputs let users connect multiple sources to the same monitor.

Reference Q&A
Q: Should I get the MSI MAG 272F X24 or a 27-inch 1440p monitor?
A: Choose the MAG 272F X24 if you prioritize 240Hz Full HD gaming and want to keep the display’s resolution at 1920 × 1080. Choose a 27-inch 1440p model, such as MSI’s MAG 274QRF QD E2, if finer image detail and extra stand adjustments matter more; it runs at up to 180Hz and has a height-adjustable stand. The 1440p option has more pixels to render, so the choice also depends on your PC’s gaming performance at that resolution.
Q: MSI MAG 272F X24 or MAG 245F X24 for competitive FPS?
A: Both are 1920 × 1080 Rapid IPS monitors rated for 240Hz and 0.5ms GtG. The MAG 272F X24 is the larger 27-inch option; the MAG 245F X24 is 23.8 inches and has smaller pixels at the same resolution, which may suit buyers who prefer a more compact, denser Full HD image. Choose based on screen size and viewing preference rather than refresh rate.
Q: Is the MAG 272F X24 worth choosing over the MSI MAG 242F?
A: Choose the MAG 272F X24 if you want a 27-inch screen and its 240Hz maximum refresh rate. The MAG 242F is a 23.8-inch Full HD model rated at up to 200Hz, so it is the smaller-screen alternative if 200Hz meets your needs. Both are Rapid IPS and list a 0.5ms minimum GtG response time; actual value depends on the models’ prices where you shop.
Q: Should I choose the MAG 272F X24 or MSI MAG 274QF X24?
A: Choose the MAG 272F X24 for 27-inch Full HD gaming at up to 240Hz. The MAG 274QF X24 keeps the 27-inch size and 240Hz rating but upgrades to 2560 × 1440 resolution, making it the better fit if you want more on-screen detail and your PC can drive games at that resolution. Check the supported refresh rate for your connection: MSI lists up to 240Hz over DisplayPort and up to 144Hz over HDMI for the MAG 274QF X24.
Q: Who is this monitor best suited for?
A: It suits PC gamers who prioritize smooth motion and high refresh rates, especially in fast-paced games. Its 240Hz refresh rate is most useful when the connected computer and game can output high frame rates. The 27-inch 1920 × 1080 resolution favors speed over the extra detail of a higher-resolution display.
Q: Will it work with a PS5 or Xbox?
A: It has two HDMI 2.0b inputs for connecting a console. The console and game determine the available resolution and refresh rate, so do not expect a console to use the monitor’s full 240Hz capability; check the console’s supported video modes for the exact output.
Q: Is it suitable for office work and video meetings?
A: It can handle everyday computer work, but it is primarily a gaming monitor. Its 27-inch Full HD resolution may show less fine text detail than a higher-resolution display, and it has no built-in webcam or speakers. It includes a headphone output and tilt adjustment, but no height adjustment is listed.
Q: Does it have built-in speakers, and can it be mounted?
A: It has no built-in speakers, so use headphones through its headphone output or connect audio equipment separately. It supports 100 × 100 mm VESA mounting; the supplied stand offers tilt adjustment from −5° to 20°.
Q: Will 27-inch 1080p look sharp enough, or should I choose 1440p?
A: The MAG 272F X24 is 27 inches with 1920×1080 resolution, so it prioritizes 240Hz gaming over pixel density. Reddit users considering this model raised concerns about visible pixels and suggested 27-inch 1440p; choose 1440p if sharper text and finer detail matter more to you.
Q: Is the MAG 272F X24 worth buying?
A: It may fit buyers who specifically want a 27-inch Full HD Rapid IPS monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate, but the Reddit discussions found here do not provide enough independent hands-on feedback to establish its overall value or reliability. Compare the price, return policy, and reviews for alternatives before deciding.
Q: Is it a good choice for competitive games like CS2?
A: It is a reasonable fit if you prioritize a high refresh rate: the listed specifications are Full HD and up to 240Hz. To benefit from 240Hz, your computer and game need to deliver high frame rates; if you value sharper visuals for single-player games more, consider a higher-resolution option.
Q: Can it work as a monitor for both gaming and work?
A: It can serve both uses if Full HD resolution and a 27-inch screen suit your work; a Reddit discussion considering the model included web development as well as gaming. The stand only tilts, and the monitor has no built-in speakers, so check whether those limitations fit your desk setup.
