* Requires overclocking/BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depends on system components, including motherboard and CPU.
Flare X5 is a performance DDR5 DRAM memory series designed for compatible AMD platforms, featuring a simple and clean design in matte black or matte white, and a low-profile module height at 33mm.
- 33mm Low Profile Module Height
- AMD EXPO™ Memory Overclock Profile Support
- Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
- Prior to enabling AMD EXPO, memory kits will boot at the SPD speed at default BIOS settings with compatible hardware.
- For memory kits with AMD EXPO, enable EXPO profile in BIOS to reach up to the rated potential EXPO overclock speed of the memory kit, subject to the use of compatible hardware. Enabling AMD EXPO is an act of overclocking and requires BIOS setting adjustments.
- Reaching the rated AMD EXPO overclock speed and system stability will depend on the compatibility and capability of the motherboard and CPU used.
- Usage in any manner inconsistent with manufacturer specifications, warnings, designs, or recommendations will result in lower speeds, system instability, or damage to the system or its components.

The G.SKILL Flare X5 F5-6000J3644D64GX4-FX5 is a 256GB (4 x 64GB) DDR5-6000 desktop memory kit for AMD Ryzen users and PC enthusiasts who need high capacity alongside an AMD EXPO performance profile.
Recommended For
- Local AI users running large models or long-context workloads that need more than 128GB of system RAM, and who can accommodate the kit’s motherboard and BIOS requirements.
- Workstation users with unusually large in-memory datasets or several virtual machines running at once, where 256GB capacity matters more than keeping the setup simple.
- AMD Ryzen 9000 builders whose exact motherboard is on G.SKILL’s compatibility list and who want a matched 4×64GB kit; a hands-on test reported DDR5-6000 EXPO operation after a BIOS update.
- Builders who need 256GB in one matched kit and are prepared to check compatibility, update the BIOS, and allow time for memory setup rather than assuming EXPO will work at its rated speed on every system.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- When a developer runs several virtual machines, containers, databases, and IDEs at once, the 256GB capacity can keep more of that workload in memory and reduce slowdowns caused by running short of RAM; CPU, storage, and software requirements still matter.
- For local AI experimentation, a user can dedicate more system memory to models and supporting tools, including when testing CPU-based or GPU-offloaded workflows. This does not guarantee faster generation: performance also depends heavily on the processor, GPU, software, and model.
- When processing unusually large 3D-scanning captures or other sizable datasets, the extra memory can help keep more data available to applications instead of relying as much on disk-backed paging; the benefit depends on whether the software and project actually use that much RAM.
- For demanding video-editing or compositing projects, especially alongside other memory-heavy applications, this capacity provides room for larger working sets and multitasking. It will not by itself make exports faster, which also depend on the CPU, GPU, storage, and editing software.
- For an AM5 desktop build that needs both very high memory capacity and a four-DIMM setup, this kit is a candidate to evaluate. Reaching DDR5-6000 with all four modules is not assured; check the motherboard and CPU compatibility lists and test stability, since reported results vary by system.
