Question 1

Dell MDS19 or MDA20: which should I choose for two monitors?

Accepted Answer

Choose the MDS19 for two compatible 17–27-inch monitors when a desk-standing base and straightforward side-by-side setup fit your needs. Choose the MDA20 if you want a clamp-mounted articulated arm, more positioning range, or support for larger or heavier displays: Dell lists the MDA20 for monitors up to 34 inches and 22 lb per arm, compared with the MDS19’s 27-inch and 13.2-lb-per-monitor limits.

Question 2

Is the Dell MDS19 an upgrade over the older MDS14A?

Accepted Answer

Choose the MDS19 if reducing the stand’s footprint is a priority: Dell states that the MDS19 has a 30% smaller footprint than the MDS14A. Check your monitors’ compatibility and weight against the MDS19’s limits before switching; it supports selected 17–27-inch monitors weighing 5–13.2 lb each.

Question 3

Will the MDS19 work for two 27-inch monitors, or do I need an arm?

Accepted Answer

The MDS19 is rated for selected monitors up to 27 inches, with a maximum weight of 13.2 lb per monitor. Choose it if both displays meet the size, weight, and compatibility requirements and its height, tilt, swivel, and rotation adjustments suit your setup. Consider the MDA20 instead if either display exceeds those limits or you need its wider arm-positioning range.

Question 4

Will the MDS19 fit my two monitors?

Accepted Answer

It supports two monitors in the 19–27-inch range. Check that each monitor has a compatible VESA mounting pattern of up to 100 × 100 mm, or a compatible Dell Quick Release mount, and stays within the stand’s weight limit.

Question 5

Can I adjust the monitors for a more comfortable viewing position?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The MDS19 provides tilt, swivel, rotation, and up to 5.12 inches of lift, so you can change the screens’ viewing angle and height within those ranges.

Question 6

Is this stand suitable for a two-monitor office setup?

Accepted Answer

It is designed to hold two monitors and offers adjustable positioning for desk-based work. It may suit users who want to arrange two screens on one stand; it is a monitor stand, not a laptop stand or a travel device.

Question 7

Does the MDS19 include monitors or video cables?

Accepted Answer

No. The MDS19 is a stand only. You need to supply compatible monitors and the required video and power cables.

Question 8

Can I use the Dell MDS19 with non-Dell monitors?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Reddit users report using it with non-Dell monitors. Check that each display is 19–27 inches, fits the 3.9 × 3.9-inch mounting pattern, and stays within the stand’s 13.2 lb. maximum load specification.

Question 9

Is the MDS19 suitable for a two-monitor work-from-home setup?

Accepted Answer

It is designed for two monitors, supports displays in the listed 19–27-inch range, and offers height, tilt, swivel, and rotation adjustments. Reddit users show it in home-office setups with dual 24-inch monitors.

Question 10

What are the trade-offs of the MDS19 compared with monitor arms?

Accepted Answer

A Reddit user who replaced the MDS19 with another stand said the MDS19 offered cable-management benefits but less fine positioning adjustment and a large base. If you need frequent or highly flexible repositioning, compare its adjustment range and footprint with an arm before buying.
