I’m very impressed with this switch. I used to have an old 10/100 Netgear switch that I used for my home NAS Server, Radius Server, and two HTPC computers. Needless to say when it came time for media streaming and uploading that old switch just couldn't handle all the traffic going across it. Some of the things that I love about this TP-Link switch are its 8 gigabyte ports. All 8 of the 10/100/1000 ports support up massive data through put and also Auto-MDI/MDIX so the more beginner users won’t have to worry about having a crossover cable or a straight though cable for the home or small business networks. Works great with IEEE 802.3x, and IEEE 802.1P/Q-based VLAN trunking. I really liked the 4k entry with the switch. This allows the switch to auto-learn and auto-age computers MAC addresses. Another amazing feature especially when it comes to streaming media or transferring large files across my home network is the ability to send 9KB frames to the switch. Most switches don’t support 9KB frames, so when you enable 9KB frame transfer on your NIC you can send large amounts of data before a receiving computer can send an acknowledgement. You’ll notice much faster uploads and downloads from inside your home network. And if you’re worried about power consumption, you don’t need to worry about that with this switch. It supports green Ethernet technology that helps reduce the amount of power the device uses and will also turn off the power to ports that are not being used, as well has ports that are still connected to the switch but computers or devices are off. If you want to see what type of devices are connected to the switch all you need to do this look at the flashing LED's. If the Green Led on the left of the port is green and flashing that means you have a 1000mps device attached to that port. But if the yellow light to the right of the port is on that means you have a 100mps device connected to the device. Very nice to see that TP-Link implemented this.
