Great product!

Pros: This motherboard has everything except an SPDIF Port (Digital Audio Interface). But there is a SPDIF connector on the board for those willing to pay for and install an additional module.

Cons: The I/O Shield was very hard to install in my Define R6 case. I had to recommence three times.
Always a huge hassle to connect Front Panel I/O cables to the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: March 3rd edit : Changed my rating from 5 stars to 2 stars because my USB 3.1 Type-C Port is dead. I updated to the last version of the BIOS, verified all USB options in the BIOS, and checked many forums for that bug. I am disappointed as I had planned for a working port.

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Jacques,

Thank you for sharing for your experience regarding our product. We value your feedback. It is unfortunate that your motherboard's USB C port is no longer working. What do you see when you have device manager open? Please try clearing CMOS. Let me know if this helps. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact me at cl-justin@asus.com, or to speak to an ASUS live support agent 24/7 at http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat. Customer Service

Pros: Beautiful board, easy to work with.

Cons: RAM slots too close to first PCIe slot for watercooled GPU. Had to remove water block back plate and use GPU back plate.

Other Thoughts: My first one came with a dead M.2_2 slot which I RMA'd. ASUS support (Canada) were very helpful and responsive. The board was replaced and I am waiting for it know. I hope it comes before the weekend. Aside from the delay in the build and added expense of mailing the board the Customer Service was excellent. They made the experience a lot easier.

Great board for fair pricing...

Pros: Board looks great in new Corsair Crystal 280x case. Went with a white, black, and orange build. The yellow accents on the board actually looked orange with white RGB fans bouncing off it, which I didn't mind because it worked out perfectly. BIOS overall is easy to use love the pre-loaded one-click OC. Just the right amount of fan headers, USB headers, and sata ports. Couldn't be happier overall.

Cons: -USB 3.0 header is not in the best location if you have a low mounting case like the corsair crystal 280x. You need to run a usb 3.0 low profile extension cable to the back inorder to fully utilize the bottom fan mounts otherwise the stock usb 3.0 cable is rigid and sticks out half way across the bottom fan mounts completely making it useless.

Other Thoughts: -Really nice MOBO overall for the price
-Wish it came in all white

Great features, terrible I/O Shield

Pros: - Got everything you could want in a Micro ATX board (except an error readout)
- Built-in WiFi was the main selling feature for me, also has Bluetooth
- Bios is easy to use once you figure it out and worked well (set ram to correct speed with one button, able to set my 8086k to 5ghz with one button as well)

Cons: - The I/O shield is a real pain to install, it has small tabs that constantly bend or get in the way when trying to install, and on my case it didn't line up correctly, I had to use washers to raise the motherboard slightly
- LED can be turned off, but only through bios
- I wish it had a couple more fan headers

Great Board - Fully Featured and Worked on First Boot

Pros: I don't know why Z390 micro-ATX boards are so rare in comparison to full size boards. At the time of writing, there are only four available - one from each of the big motherboard manufacturers. This board is the most expensive one, but I do like ASUS products so I took the plunge.

To start, this board has the typical quality feel that ASUS boards are known for. The heatsinks, solid caps, back plate, layout... all top notch. After everything was plugged in the system booted right up. There's four 4-pin fan headers plus one AIO pump 4-pin header. I have five fans in my case (2 HSF, 3 front, 1 exhaust) so I ended up using the AIO header for one of the fans. It can be set to PWM but it's not configurable by ASUS QFan and requires some manual settings to work properly and keep noise at a minimum. For the other fans, I find ASUS is the leader in fan control and this board is no exception.

Bundled Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are a nice touch for a desktop motherboard as most tech seems to be moving in the wireless direction. Range for both are good and the Wi-Fi link speed is respectable. The wired LAN port is Intel which I prefer over Realtek.

An unexpected part of this motherboard is the RGB under-board illumination where the 24 pin connector goes. I didn't realize this board had it's own RGB component although I was aware of its Aura RGB capabilities. The effect is subtle, so don't expect it to add to the bling factor if you want a light show.

Cons: No real cons to take away eggs. One minor annoyance is the metal tabs at the LAN, HDMI, and DP ports on the backplate I/O panel. Maneuvering the motherboard into place while not bending the tabs was quite a challenge for my build in a tight case interior.

One oddity with the layout is the SATA ports being in two groups of three ports: one parallel set on the right edge and one perpendicular set facing out on the bottom edge. Typical layout for smaller motherboards is all six ports, stacked two deep, facing parallel to the motherboard which saves space on the PCB. I have experienced motherboards where the stacked SATA layout interferes with graphics cards, so perhaps this change is a good thing though it requires running SATA cables in separate runs.

Other Thoughts: I'm using an i7-8086K CPU and Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3400C16 memory on this board with no issues. I tested every feature on the motherboard and it all works as expected. My board came with BIOS v0606 and haven't found any glitches as of yet.

Better handling of voltage than on Z370

Pros: My 8700K overclocks just as well on this board as on my ROG Maximus X Hero. I am running all six cores at 4.9GHz with 1.31Volts by just changing the multiplier to 49 without further tweaking. It allows me to turn my Thermaltake RGB power supply vertically in my Core P3 case. The new version of the BIOS is sweet.

Cons: I wish it had more LEDs.

Other Thoughts: I see no reason to replace the CPU with the new i9 9900K but I did replace my GTX 1080 SLI setup with a single RTX 2080 Ti.
