TV-IP751WIC Wireless Day / Night Cloud Camera

TRENDnet Logo

TRENDnet's Wireless Day/Night Cloud Camera, model TV-IP751WIC, takes the work out of viewing video over the internet. Previously to view video remotely, users needed to perform many complicated and time consuming steps: such as signing up for a third party dynamic IP service and reconfiguring their router. The TRENDnet Cloud service removes all of these complicated steps. Users simply open a web browser and log into the TRENDnet Cloud with their unique password to view and manage this camera. A free App for mobile devices brings live video to smart phones and tablets.

About the TV-IP751WIC

Wireless n technology connects the camera to a wireless network and provides unsurpassed wireless coverage and improved streaming video quality. Add this camera to your wireless network at the touch of a button with Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). The TV-IP751WIC offers 640 x 480 (VGA) video at up to 20 frames per second (fps), one-way audio, motion detection recording, scheduled recordings, email alerts, date and time overlay, and four times digital zoom. 5 out of 5 eggs6 Month Follow-Up Review!

Pros: I have been using this camera 24/7 since my last review.
It has performed flawlessly the entire time.

Back in July I went on a vacation and left this unit setup inside my home so that it could view the front door, back door and hallway. We have 7 pets and had hired someone to come in and feed them daily, but still wanted to keep an eye on things from day to day while we were away.

I setup the unit so that it would send a capture of any motion to my email, along with a text message and picture to my cell phone. It was also setup for FTP and would upload all captures to a folder on my web site. At first I had a little trouble with receiving too many alerts due to the animals moving around in the hallway, but this was easily fixed by experimenting with the motion detection, and adjusting the motion grid detection. After adjusting several times I found that 70% worked the best, it would not give me any false alerts from the animals or sun shadows at this setting.

Each day I would receive messages with captures whenever the pet sitter would show up, all with time and date stamps on them. When no one was in the house at night it gave me a good peace of mind that if I had received any alerts it would mean that someone was inside the house that should not be there. And I would have been able to easily log in and see what was happening.

I also used the Secure Pro app on my tablet and could log in and watch live motion with no problems. I watched the pet sitter when they were there, as well as looked in on my pets.

Cons: None at all!

Other Thoughts: Although this is only 640x480, the pictures are sharp and clear on my cell phone when logged in with a browser. Also with the Secure Pro app the live video feed was very clear on my tablet.

The night vision is good when something is up very close, but I would recommend a night light or something similar in the area you may be using this camera in at night just to enhance the view a bit more.

Setting up the motion detection can be a little tricky, keep in mind that shadows on walls cast by the sun will set off false alerts during the day, but is easily remedied by turning down the percentage of motion detection.

For its size this camera works very good, and I have recommended it to many others looking for a simple solution for basic monitoring within their homes.

Being able to receive an email or text alert with a snapshot capture really rocks! You can have multiple email addresses simply by separating each address with the semicolon.

A new version of Trendnet View Pro was released in August 2013 version 2.3.2

4 out of 5 eggspretty amazing 640px IP camera!

Pros: *very easy setup, both hardware & software wise
*upon first connection via browser camera prompted to upgrade firmware (was easy too)
*near instant live video feed via internet
*Cloudview works great via IE10 (activeX) & FF21 (java) & android 4.1.2 (cloudview app)
*motion detector works great (accidentally flooded my both my mailbox and FTP account with e-mails containing stills)
*tested over local N-band WiFi - zero trouble, very fast access times and upload times to e-mail or FTP
*audio feature works very well in video live feed
*digital zoom and automatic day/night mode seemed also flawless to my unit
*tested with Windows 8 Pro x64 and Samsung Galaxy SIII (android 4.1.2)

Cons: *lack of hardware setup leaflet (it's very easy anyways, regardless lack of such)
*initial firmware was buggy and live feed over LAN or internet was lagging by around 2 seconds or was refusing connections sometimes - all of those issues were resolved by a firmware upgrade to latest 1.0.1
*cannot record videos (e.g. triggered by motion sensor and lasting for duration of movement), only saving of stills is allowed, either by email or FTP (once configured in admin panel they work fine)

Other Thoughts: Haven't tested the SecureView Pro app yet

My testing unit is definitely a keeper! I can find great use for that when I'm away from home ... was always wondering what our cat does while we are out :)

Current price of $69 on Newegg is pretty decent for such hardware. My unit worked flawlessly after a firmware upgrade, hopefully that is all it takes to solves trouble you might encounter ... and if not then there is always Newegg customer service or TrendNet tech support.
I would call this device very well worth its price based on my own review unit.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat when it works....

Pros: When this camer works I think it does a good job for what it is. It is very easy to setup and connect to either by using its internal IP, my Nexus 4, or the cloud. The image seems nice even though its not HD and the Night Vision is as clear as day, I connected to it while it was in a completely dark room and could see everything as if a light was on.

Cons: Where to start...

I have been testing my camera for 3 days now, I have had to unplug it about 5 times now as it just locks up. It stopped letting me connect via IP address, although I could still connect with my phone... I had to do a hard reset and set the camera up a 2nd time so I could connect to it through my browser. Screen tearing! The bottom half of the picture is constantly ripping and going white making 50% of the picture worthless... after a few minutes of being plugged in the FPS start dropping until the picture finally freezes and I have to unplug the camera again...

Other Thoughts: Using Manjaro x64 I was able to set the camera up and test. The Issues I had with the camera could both be seen through my browser on Manjaro and through the Trendnet app for Android...

I really tried giving this camera its fair shake, and kept putting off writing this review thinking the camera would just work better the next day, but its just more of the same....

My 13 yr old son asked me how much I would pay for this camera with all I know now, My reply... I did not have to pay for it and I still do not want it... IF I would have bought this I would have RMAed it by now.... I love you Trendnet but this camera is junk!

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsDecent Cloud Camera, Lousy SecureView Pro

Pros: The system is a good one for those wanting to set up camera security. Multiple cameras & feeds and (what looks like) relatively simple management. The cloud feed sets up simply and easily. It captures low light images well. Motion detection seems to work well.

Cons: First: I abhor the invasion of privacy and will restrict the use of a cloud based device. There is no security in the cloud and if you want the NSA, FBI and CIA, as well as every other "police agency," as well as hackers and cyber criminals in your home. NEVER EVER install a cloud based device if you want privacy of the feed. The Deputy Directors for both the CIA and FBI have acknowledged publicly that their Big Data projects allow them ultimate access to all that is extant on the web. They even have the keys to control remote web cams. If you want the government(s) to have access to your every move then install a web cam.

I was interested in this product for setting up a private surveillance camera for my house and tried to use the SecureView Pro software to provide a private DVR for security. The software installs but does not detect the feed. I left a customer ticket with Trendnet support three days ago and have not reply (except the auto reply).

I tried to set up the software & hardware on two different systems both using Win 8 Pro. On neither of the systems can I log into or get a feed from the camera.

I will await Trendnet's reply and write a follow-up when I receive a reply.

After I am done setting up and evaluating this device I will locate it in a spot where it only can monitor the public traffic and entrances. It will remain unpowered unless I am away from my home or if there is an over reaching security problem.

Unless you are willing to allow the whole internet to see the feed, do not hook up any web cam device.

Other Thoughts: All computers can be hacked. When the US government, the Chinese Government and all the other governments are putting legions of hackers to work to hack each other and everyone else you can be assured of only one thing: if they can hack you they will. And that does not even account for the legions of independents like Anonymous.

Unless I am actively using a web camera it is powered off and pointed at a wall. Go ahead, hack that.

If Trendnet would put out software that does not allow cloud casting, and gave me full control over all of their cameras without the risks of hacks I would get it in a NY second.

The cloud casting does have some utility: it allows a remote user to access the camera while away from the camera's location. But in doing this it also allows any one with the skills or keys to see that camera's feed as well. You can be more secure only if you allow Big Brother and all the hackers to to watch as well.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Chesteracorgi,

Sorry for any technical difficulties it may have caused you not to detect video feeds. If possible, please uninstall the SecurView Pro and delete the Digital video recorder.mdb file under the c:\program files\Trendnet\SecurView Pro folder before re-installing it. Please refer to the User Guide and check “SecurView Pro broadcast server application” when The “Select Components” window appears to move on. If it still doesn’t help please contact me at with “Newegg TV-IP751WIC” in the subject and I will contact you immediately to assist, along with the Big Brother concerns. Look forward to your reply soon and hope to restore your faith in TRENDnet’s products.

2 out of 5 eggswhere to start...

Pros: Software seems like it could be amazing. There is a lot of user manageable functionality that screams customize me. The potential for 32 cameras is great. The broadcast server should be amazing too!

Cons: To start the camera may be dead or malfunctioning.

At least I hope that is the excuse because if not this is the most horrible piece of junk ever made.

I have spent over 15 hours trying to get one single camera to connect. But always receive an error that states: Failed to connect to device. Adtl info- an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I have tried installing on windows server 2008, Vista 32bit, and win7 64bit. All receive the same error, the only thing that is odd is the camera makes a click noise before falling to connect.

I get a connection, an ip addy for the camera, and still nothing.

I have went powerline, through an unmanaged switch, direct to router, and via wireless, all connect, still nothing, all the same error.

I have swapped routers, I tried dgnd4000, r6300, and even went old school to dgnd2000. Again all the same, albeit I didn't try wireless on the last two routers, only dgnd4000.

I have tried different ports, different configurations, pretty much anything I could find, tried assigning static ip to the camera, tried connecting to different networks (primary, guest, and my business network). Nothing changed.

For reference, server and Vista machine both on Ethernet to same router that powerline and switch are on and direct connection to the camera attempted (disconnected printer to do so).

Nothing seems to work and if the camera is not broken then no person should ever sell something this horrible to setup. That is ridiculous.

Other Thoughts: TrendNet website has nothing to assist, no support whatsoever for this type of issue, the search functionality is horrible.

Prior to this I have never had an issue with TrendNet, even suggest it many times to custumers, I personally own a switch and wireless nic from them and have never had an issue, so this experience was very disheartening.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear TRENDnet customer,

Apologize for all difficulties it may have caused you and thank you for all your effort to try to get it up and running. We don’t know if you have reset it to the factory default or not. If not, please help to do so via the reset button and upgrade to the latest firmware via the following link,, if applicable and doable. If it still doesn’t help please contact me at with “Newegg TV-IP751WIC” in the subject and I will contact you immediately to go through the RMA process. Look forward to your reply soon and hope to restore your faith in TRENDnet’s products.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Impressive

Pros: This is ideal for something along the lines of a bedroom or a small office scenario. The resolution is too low to see anything in great detail, and it doesn't compensate for variable lighting situations very well.

Cons: Other brands offer a similar camera with a smaller visible footprint(as well as in black), AND are more adjustable, at a better/similar price. They also advertise a better night viewing distance.

The software is potentially powerful, but not well polished. The ability to control up to 32 wireless cameras has a sense of value, but it's hard

Other Thoughts: I've used this for a couple of weeks as a driveway monitor, and during the day it's not bad. The frames are fairly steady and aside from the fact that it's extremely easy to see in a front window, I have no complaints.

At night, it's worthless. Something about the night light doesn't travel far enough to pick up any light beyond the window screen, making it basically worthless for outdoor night surveillance.

Overall, it's a glorified webcam, and an expensive one at that. There are equivalent options at a lower price, better ones at the same price, and 720p(and better in every other way) ones for $20 more. I just can't see myself buying 32 of these.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Idea - experience could be better

Pros: 1.The camera works in the light and gives images in the dark as well.
2. Software that comes with the camera is very good. The pro-view would allow multiple cameras, and is easy to control.
3. The phone app is terrific, it works without hitch

Cons: 1. Setup was a disaster. It took me over a week to get it working.
2. The camera will not recognize a network that is not broad-casting a ssid.
3. The camera cannot be recognized on a power line network.
4. It requires a direct connection to the router to be started, even if you are using a wireless connnection.
5. I could never get the WPS network to work
6. Resolution is very poor 640x480 is very small
7. Could never upgrade the firmware.
8. Did I mention it was really hard to set-up

Other Thoughts: Set-up was very difficult. It should have been straight forward, and an easy process. I have two windows 7 64 bit computers. I could set it on one of them, but the other would never work, no matter what I did. The networking need to be more flexible considering how we set-up modern networks. The WPS failing to work, did not surprise me. My modem is fairly new, but WPS does not always work.

The set-up process left a bad taste in my mouth. The resolution is pretty weak. I could never get it work work over my power line networking. I hope that I can work through this. I finally did get the wireless to work as well as a direct network connection.

Being able to view the camera on my android device is pure genius. I could live with the set-up hassles. This almost makes up for the headaches. If the resolution was a little better, it would make everything worthwhile.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Pat,

Sorry for any setup inconvenience it may have caused you especially when WPS is failing on you. As you might know, an Ethernet setup option is available to you, and I believe you will have better experience to get it up and running. We don’t know what kind of power line solution you have. But, we would like to help to get this camera recognized and firmware upgraded. Please contact me at with “Newegg TV-IP751WIC” in the subject line and I will contact you immediately to assist. Look forward to your reply soon and hope to restore your faith in TRENDnet’s products.

4 out of 5 eggsInexpensive Camera with Potential Results

Pros: This camera is awesome, simple, inexpensive and easy to use once you get everything down. I will not go technical like some people because some of these items are mention on the overview tap of this page. But if you need a camera to spy on your neighbor because you suspect them of poisoning your dog or something simple like want to watch your newborn while there are sleeping while your in the kitchen cooking or simply watching your favorite soap opera and want to make sure everything looks good and SOUNDS good, this camera is for you. I personally use it to watch my nieces and nephews and I could hear what they are doing while I am in the computer writing this review.

Cons: Although this is a very inexpensive camera I think that the viewing quality could have been better, I personally think that the night vision options seems to be better for me then color because the room that I use this item most of the time has too much light and not enough windows to let natural light come in. The software on the Android APP is hard to find even when you use the bar code it’s a waste of time. Search it instead and you have to type it exactly like this “TRENDnet Cloud” without the quotes. The scan info is more like a manual and YouTube videos which take forever to load. I have a Samsung Galaxy S III and have no problems with the software; I guess if you have an older phone it might not be able to connect but any 4GLTE phones should have no problems with the Cloud software.

Other Thoughts: Once you get the TRENDnet Cloud APP installed on your phone is very simple to use from anywhere in the event that your want to check on the house, I wish the mic portion worked but that is another camera and more money. The SecurView Pro software for your computer is a bit complicated but you do need to configure that to be able to record things. Make sure that when you set it up you first follow the direction on the small sticker with all your information. Make sure to go to Administration button which will get you to a different window which will display the assigned IP Address your router gave to your Camera write it down because you’re going to need it to configure SecurView Pro on your home computer. Also if you change the username and password make sure you write it down because you will need it also. Once you have that info run the CD follow the prompts just make sure that when you get to Camera device properties make sure you hit the Properties button and make sure that under the Access tap you have the IP Address and the username and password you set up at the beginning for it to be able to connect and record. Also on this same window make sure you go to audio and set it to Internal Audio Source by default is at No Audio Source and you need that to record sound. If you are planning on recording you’re going to need more space I will recommend getting another hard drive where all the video and audio will be store and you could configure that under Data recording click on Global Recording Properties and choose the hard drive you want to have all the information saved in. Another thing you need to do which a lot of people don’t mention here is that in some routers you might need to open your NAT to be able to stream a little better specially in wireless mode. I had a little bit more connectivity issues with it but after opening the NAT and updating my routers firmware everything connects fine although I prefer the Ethernet connection as a better option. I did have this camera connected to switch which also worked great.

3 out of 5 eggsPowerful software with an average camera

Pros: The biggest pro with this TRENDnet camera is the software suite that is included, SecurView Pro. It's capable of monitoring/managing 32 cameras concurrently. There are more settings and configurations that can be tweaked than I could go through in several hours of playing. It's really an all in one security suite for entry level to advanced users.

Here are some other Pros that I've found with this IP camera:
• Using the setup wizard gets the camera up and running quickly on wired or wireless network.
• FREE cloud based monitoring and administration using a provided web address.
• Night vision mode is decently clear and surprisingly bright.
• Can upload to FTP if you can figure out how to host one, but it requires an always on PC and network connection.
• Can run on a time schedule or motion detection, or manual mode.
• Can send still shots via email, and apparently SMS but I haven't played with that yet.
• Works with several droid and IOS apps or with TRENDnet apps (free). I like Net Eye Cam or IP Cam Viewer because they are easy to configure, very lightweight, and are also free.
• Despite low end resolution, the picture is pretty clear (after you've adjusted the focus).
• Camera automatically adjusts to different surroundings and brightness.
• Front LED can be disabled for stealth mode, however the IR emitters are pretty visible at night and could be a dead giveaway if you want the camera hidden.

Cons: Unfortunately, as the title states, I believe the software is the biggest plus with this package. The camera itself just doesn't bring much to the table. Here's why:

• Low viewing angle is bad for indoors. It might work for a hallway or doorway, but not monitoring an entire room even when placed in the corner. This is an indoor camera, it should have an indoor viewing angle!
• Audio has a lot of white noise. I couldn't tweak the input much at all from the software settings, so I just disabled audio altogether.
• Zoom feature is all digital, so the image looks like Mario World (huge pixels) beyond 2x zoom. Almost nothing is identifyable at 4x.
• Focus is manually adjusted, and hard to fine tune between day and night mode. Day looks sharp, then night looks soft, and vis versa after adjusting.
• No PoE (power over ethernet) even after providing buyers with a pretty short A/C power cord. Really?
• No remote PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) features. Everything is manually adjusted with exception to turning off the LED light and toggling night vision mode.
• Same active-x problems as previous reviews noted when using the cloud interface. Java works fine, but warns of security vulnerabilities constantly.

Other Thoughts: TRENDnet should definitely be one of your options when shopping around for wireless IP security cameras. The software package is great, but this camera is your basic entry level piece of gear. If I were going to add another camera to my DIY home security setup I would want a higher resolution camera; 720p would be perfect. I would want a larger viewing angle to capture the most of a living space as possible. Lastly, I would want an autofocus feature to avoid fiddling with the picture quality everytime the camera switches from night to day modes. These requirements don't rule out TRENDnet cameras altogether, so they will definitely be included in my Newegg search filter =)

1 out of 5 eggsnot good

Pros: easy to set up

Cons: fails after a few days; the apps on the android phone and IPhone works sometimes; seams to work ok the an android tablet ok; app not available to the Ipad; stopped recording after a few days with still plenty of room on the hard drive; emailed support and they told me to check their video on their web sight which told me nothing; their videos are useless for troubleshooting; filled out a second help ticket and heard nothing else from them for three weeks now. their software for the PC crashes too.

Other Thoughts: you get what you pay for I guess.

Manufacturer Response:
