5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Best cooler I ever had. I have this on a 5830 I7 and temps have not gone above 31 Celsius. Very quiet and hope this lasts a long time.

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: Excellent performer and you want to protect your cpu with a good quality cooler. Phanteks has delivered.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent quality, great performance.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Performs well when installed on a 4690k overclocked to 4.3ghz.

Fans are not that loud when spinning up. Idle temps are low and allow the fans to perform almost silently.

Looks good

Cons: Not super high quality. Good enough for the price. If you want perfect quality, go with noctua. They are excellent but very expensive. No eggs removed for this. The quality does not impact performance.

Other Thoughts: This is my go to cooler for budget builds or systems that do not need high end cooling. It is only $20 more than the Evo 212 and performs much better.

Bigger than I thought it would be. Make sure to check what you can fit. I had 2mm of clearance.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Wide range of colors and performance is great for the price.

Cons: The instructions that come with this are pretty bad, especially if you're an AMD user. See thoughts below:

Other Thoughts: When this cooler first came out it used a different set of brackets for AMD installs that forced the unit to only be able to be installed in a North-South direction. Phanteks have since changed the brackets so that you can install in an East-West direction. This is great except that all of the instructions and images in the manual and on the Phanteks site are still for the old brackets and installation method! A little common sense will get you through the installation fine, but for a new builder it might be pretty confusing.

3 out of 5 eggsGood and bad

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Aesthetically very pleasing, put this in a white and black build and think it looks killer.
Quiet in idle
Keeps my cpu nice and chilly, room for overclocking

Cons: Fans are pretty loud underload, especially since there are 2 running.

Other Thoughts: I might be just over sensitive to fan noise, but these fans are driving me crazy. i might go back to my Noctua fans even though they don't look nearly as nice. If sound doesn't bother you or your case has sound dampening material you should be fine. If noise bothers you this is a 3, if not this is easily a 4-5 egg product. Sorry Phantek, just not for me.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty nice!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Cheap compared to other options, but gets the job done! I didn't want to delve into water cooling for my first build, so reviews helped me pick this one. It fit fine with my MSI Z97 Gaming 5 and keeps my stock i7-4790k cool at low 30°s C. With load, it bumps to 50-60°s C.

Cons: Being my first build, I was confused by the images how to orient the fans on the radiator. I had to lookup a Youtube video to see how they installed it so I could get the arrows correct. I mounted it facing front/back instead of top/bottom so it'd work with my front/back case fans.

Other Thoughts: With just this and two case fans, 200mm on front blowing in and 140 on back blowing out, this cooler seems to do a pretty good job. But in the future, I'll probably try AIO water cooling and see how well that compares.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: fits AM3+ sockets perfect
keeps my FX Series CPU at a constant 14°C
Fits wonderfully in my new rig
Fairly inexpensive (I wasn't looking to spend much)
better than my water cooling set up I had.

Cons: A little challenging to install, but overall I have no other cons

Other Thoughts: The comments saying it doesn't fit either don't know how to install it or have the wrong socket type.

BUY THIS FAN. is great

On the water cooling issue:
1. I hate having to refill and constantly monitor.
2. This alternative is vastly cheaper to water cooling
3. This alternative is just a lot more simple to water cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat air cooler!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: This air cooler looks really nice. It keeps my CPU cool all while being super quiet, which is great for those who dislike noisy systems. The way the fans are attached to the heat sink allows for easy swapping and removal.

Cons: While the big size helps it cool better, it can also be a problem to those with certain motherboards! With both fans on one RAM slot is blocked (though not an issue for me as I only use 2 modules) for me.

Other Thoughts: This is a very nice air cooler for those who are wary of switching to water cooling and want the most out of an air cooler. Just be wary of one RAM slot being blocked.

5 out of 5 eggsBought CPU cooler - It cools CPU

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: - Works as expected
- Good cooling and relatively quiet at low-mid RPM speeds

Cons: - It's pretty big, but that's what gives it such great cooling performance

Other Thoughts: So I have an AMD A10-5800K. I've always had problems getting it to perform as well as it should, even with higher performance RAM (2133 or 2400) and tried all sorts of tricks to get it to run better.

Then I figured that I probably got a bad unit. If that was the case, then it would simply be less efficient and making way too much heat. Well, I could pay $150 to replace it, to get a decent graphics card, or less than that to get an after-market cooler.

For anyone looking at cooling solutions, here is the thing: When an air-cooler gets too hot, the computer shuts down. When a water cooler gets too hot, it can burst or leak. I feel a lot better about pushing temps on an air cooler for that alone.

So I went out and bought this, the 140mm one was out of stock and wouldn't have fit in my case so I'm glad I didn't get it.

So anyways, before this, my CPU couldn't even sustain the turbo frequency @ 4.2Ghz and would cause some wonky stuff to happen so I turned it off.

Now it can reach 4.7, 4.6 stable, and 4.4 with safe temps. Now that I have a GPU and I'm not using integrated, I can push it even further! Great cooler.

5 out of 5 eggssimply cool and quiet

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC12DX 120mm PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: easy to install with very detailed instructions. installed it on an 1150 socket Intel board and it keeps my core i5 4670k running no more than 43*C on ultra settings in Battlefield 4

Cons: absolutely none
