5 out of 5 eggsHUGE

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: -Extremely quiet
-Comes with everything you need for several different sockets
-Keeps things frosty

Cons: Ginormous

Other Thoughts: This thing is comically huge. I saw the picture and imagined a normal sized fan attached to a reasonably large cooler. I suppose I should have paid attention to the 140mm measurement in the title. The fans are significantly larger than normal case fans and the whole thing is the size of a cinder block (OK not quite that big).

I installed it in a Corsaire Carbide 200R and it fits, but is within a hair of the side of the case. I had to mount the fans on the low side to get it to fit and had to take tin snips to the heatsink of one of my RAM sticks which gave me a little chest pain.

It was not extremely simple to install, but follow the directions and take your time and you should not have any problems. Definitely dry fit it in your case and over your RAM before applying any compound so you can see how it goes together and whether you need to modify your heat sinks or get lower profile RAM. I could have installed a smaller third party fan, I suppose, and would not have had to hack up the RAM, but it's done.

1 out of 5 eggsHassle/doesn't fit

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: I'm sure it cools very well... And very good clips for holding the fan on. Good, cheap, effective design for that.

Cons: Two major cons:

1 - I'll be returning this - it's too big, and I can't get more than one RAM card on my mobo - even when designing the fans to pull air rather than push (to try and gain RAM space).

2. It is a -pain- to put together install. Especially when installing it over the brackets. There are two spring-loaded screws that go on either side of the processor to mounting brackets. Screw in one, and you can't screw in the other, and they're very difficult to reach. It took me over an hour to complete this step, and I'm worried I might have done damage to my mobo trying to do this.

No matter how well it cools, it doesn't matter if you can't put RAM on your mobo because of it, or if you break it in trying to install. Size matters, and too big is bad.

Other Thoughts: Pay 10 dollars more for a closed loop water cooler.

1 out of 5 eggsDid not work with 4790k & Z-97A Mobo

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Looks cool.... Shiny....

Cons: I tried installing this on my Asus Z97-A MOBO with a i7-4790k. It did not work. After reading all the comments and stuff, i saw people saying it would fit LGA 1150... But i guess i was wrong.

Its like it was bent in the middle of the heatsink, making it not fit properly on the CPU. the bracket and everything was installed correctly per the instructions. Maybe its not ready for Devils Canyon..... lol

So watch out, i had to switch to a Corsair h80i.

Other Thoughts: Build:
CM HAF 932 Advanced
Asus Z97-A
Intel i7-4790k 4.0Ghz
G.Skill 16Gbs 1866Mhz DDR3
Nvidia K4200
Samsung 850 256Gb SSD
Maxtor 1TB 7200rpm HDD
Corsair MX750

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: I love the performance of it, two fans are great with the capability of having three. Im running the FX-8350, which is typically a hot a processor but my temps are idling at 40c and even when I play games it doesnt get much hotter than that.

Cons: I have the original NZXT Phantom case and it takes up alot of room inside of it but oh well it still fits. Trying to put this on was a pain in the rear for me because I couldnt get my fingers on the screws to tighten it down to the CPU.

3 out of 5 eggsCooler is great, Phanteks is not.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: The Phanteks PHTC14-PE keeps my i7-4790k relatively cool when OC'd to 4.5ghz.

Cons: Middle fan started having motor issues within 2 months of use. Phanteks requires that I pay the shipping on the RMA. Considering the price of the fan, thats some expensive shipping.

5 out of 5 eggsChill Pill

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Looks nice and keeps my CPU cool.

I am only clocking my i5 3570 to 4.2, but I have the little adapter that cuts the fan speed in half yet running iburn at maximum with room temp in the upper 70s F, it never got over 71c. So I know a third fan and and or letting the fans spin up more I could really OC.
It clears my Corsair XMS3 RAM with about 10 mm clearance, the fans could be shifted up a bit so clearing RAM should be no issue.

Cons: Cons? Well there is..no, or..no, hmm, none, it rocks.

Other Thoughts: Read the Specifications and MEASURE the space in your case. This thing is BIG.

If you read the instructions or just pay attention to what you are doing and not rush, this things is VERY easy to install.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps my CPU cool (just like I hoped it would)
Great for its price.

Cons: Instructions were arranged a bit weird. Not really a con on this product but just a heads up.

Other Thoughts: It doesn't keep my CPU and cooler than the stock fan was, but now it stays at basically the same temperature under load (in between 30-35 C). Maxed out Witcher 2, Last Remnant, Dark Souls II, Red Orchestra 2, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and every other game I've played runs just fine and my CPU stays nice and cool. Exactly what I was looking for.

5 out of 5 eggsWhite as snow and just as cold.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: The Phanteks 140mm UFB CPU Cooler was fairly easy to install, with some help from YouTube, and runs much more quiet than I had expected it would. With the dual 140mm fans on the split heatsink body, my CPU never rises to dangerous levels, even at full load. Now I'm running an Intel i5 K series, but it's not overclocked at all. The multitude of colors that were availble was exceptionally nice due to the black/white configuration of my build. Made it quite easy for me to find exactly what I was looking for.

Cons: The ONLY thing I could find wrong with this CPU cooler was the fact that one of the fans started to make a noticeable rattling sound while mounted to the heatsink, due from what I assume was the fan clipping one of the fins of the heatsink. I fixed the issue by ripping off a piece of paper and adding just a little more space between the fan and the heatsink. Now it may rattle for about a second after I start it up, but it goes back to being quiet pretty quick. Nothing bad enough to deduct an egg.

Other Thoughts: I was initially worried about fitting this in with my build due to the size. But it fits like a glove with my Corsair Carbide 500r with low profile gaming RAM. No worries if you're building the same thing.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: This product is very effective for cooling your CPU. For how big it is and what it does it is very very quiet.

Cons: I am having to replace this device because it is just so massive it gets and way of doing anything inside your case. The advertisement that I saw for it did not lead me to understand the massive size of this device. I probably should have looked closer at the dimensions or perhaps read a few more reviews than the handful I looked at.
