5 out of 5 eggsChill Pill

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Looks nice and keeps my CPU cool.

I am only clocking my i5 3570 to 4.2, but I have the little adapter that cuts the fan speed in half yet running iburn at maximum with room temp in the upper 70s F, it never got over 71c. So I know a third fan and and or letting the fans spin up more I could really OC.
It clears my Corsair XMS3 RAM with about 10 mm clearance, the fans could be shifted up a bit so clearing RAM should be no issue.

Cons: Cons? Well there is..no, or..no, hmm, none, it rocks.

Other Thoughts: Read the Specifications and MEASURE the space in your case. This thing is BIG.

If you read the instructions or just pay attention to what you are doing and not rush, this things is VERY easy to install.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps my CPU cool (just like I hoped it would)
Great for its price.

Cons: Instructions were arranged a bit weird. Not really a con on this product but just a heads up.

Other Thoughts: It doesn't keep my CPU and cooler than the stock fan was, but now it stays at basically the same temperature under load (in between 30-35 C). Maxed out Witcher 2, Last Remnant, Dark Souls II, Red Orchestra 2, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and every other game I've played runs just fine and my CPU stays nice and cool. Exactly what I was looking for.

5 out of 5 eggsWhite as snow and just as cold.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: The Phanteks 140mm UFB CPU Cooler was fairly easy to install, with some help from YouTube, and runs much more quiet than I had expected it would. With the dual 140mm fans on the split heatsink body, my CPU never rises to dangerous levels, even at full load. Now I'm running an Intel i5 K series, but it's not overclocked at all. The multitude of colors that were availble was exceptionally nice due to the black/white configuration of my build. Made it quite easy for me to find exactly what I was looking for.

Cons: The ONLY thing I could find wrong with this CPU cooler was the fact that one of the fans started to make a noticeable rattling sound while mounted to the heatsink, due from what I assume was the fan clipping one of the fins of the heatsink. I fixed the issue by ripping off a piece of paper and adding just a little more space between the fan and the heatsink. Now it may rattle for about a second after I start it up, but it goes back to being quiet pretty quick. Nothing bad enough to deduct an egg.

Other Thoughts: I was initially worried about fitting this in with my build due to the size. But it fits like a glove with my Corsair Carbide 500r with low profile gaming RAM. No worries if you're building the same thing.

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: This product is very effective for cooling your CPU. For how big it is and what it does it is very very quiet.

Cons: I am having to replace this device because it is just so massive it gets and way of doing anything inside your case. The advertisement that I saw for it did not lead me to understand the massive size of this device. I probably should have looked closer at the dimensions or perhaps read a few more reviews than the handful I looked at.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat cooler

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Bought the white and black one originally and it did a fine job on my 8350 but Icould get a third fan as phanteks was working on new fans. I purchased two ty-143 fans and prime95 for a couple hours at 4.6ghz it stayed at 42 degrees c. Then a friend of mine asked me to build him a system so I bought a basic brand new white one with three fans off another site. Excellent with stock fans. Didn't do prime95 but around 5 hours of gaming with 24 degrees c ambient and temps hover around 37-40c. The new fans look excellent so I'm going to pick up them as they push a bit more air. Fx-8350 at 4.7ghz at 1.4v. Also I would go with three ty-143 fans but the colors are okay. If you go red phanteks they would match and they drop temps more but sound like jet engines when running at 1700+rpms

Cons: None. Fantastic.

Other Thoughts: I have a 600t so it's more than wide enough for this cooler. A less expensive case that's wide and would fit this is the raidmax cobra or enermax ostrog gt.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Build Quality

Cons: The included brackets did not line up with each other. The holes on the heatsink bracket do not line up with the threads on the cross bars. Yes, I installed it properly. This isn't my first time. I was really excited about this cooler but since they can't give you brackets that line up with each other, I am returning it for a different manufacturer's product.

Other Thoughts: I probably won't buy a Phanteks product again. I can't afford to have my PC down for any amount of time due to a manufacturer's mistake.

5 out of 5 eggsMay not be the coolest...but it is!

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: I ordered this after reading some of the reviews here on the EGG and also doing some Youtube watching on this monster.

I was an avid water cooler fan and have built a few high end water cooling systems. I found that after a while, the water cooled systems have problems with reliability.
I've even used almost all the closed systems from most of the major companies and found that water cooling is too maintenance intensive for most computer users. Most just want to turn it on and go.

Water systems have pumps which in my experience don't last much over a year. Some brands last a bit longer but overall, they will need to be replaced sooner or later. Watching the quality of the coolant and worrying about leaks is another reason why I decided to go with air cooling for good.

I was looking for a good air cooler and did some research on which one was the best. I was considering the Noctua NHD14 and also this. It was a matter of a coin toss.

The Ph-TC14PE won the toss and so installed it in my new FX8350 AMD build.

First, it is big. Fits fine in my Corsair Haf X case. It is quiet! I can hardly hear it running. It looks great. It comes in several colors. It is really easy to install. Fits most AMD and Intel motherboards and comes with everything you need including a fairly good thermal paste.

And it works! I found this air cooler to be very effective in removing heat from the CPU.

Mine is set up a bit differently as I am pulling cold air from the outside of the case via the rear case fan (Noktua 14 inch), then the Two Phantek supplied fans and finally, a Noctua 12 inch NF-F12 fan which is a tad bit smaller than the Phantek fans and allows for it to fit over the Ram slots without having to go with low profile ram.
I also run two 200MM Coolermaster fans at the top of the case to expel any hot air quickly.

My temperatures are in the low 20C's at idle and at full 4.2 Ghz, do not go above 40C. I am sure that with overclocking, it will be higher, but even so, I see results from others that show that this works almost as good as a higher end self contained water cooling system.

No,the Phantek PH-TC14PE probably won't be as cool as a high end water cooled system at maximum overclock, but it does not require a lot of worry about if it will leak and worry about the pump dying in the middle of the night and frying your $300+ CPU. Plus it does cool good enough to keep just about any CPU overclocked nearly as cool as any custom water cooled setup. Face it, you are not going to need to worry about 4 or 5 degrees C warmer than a water cooled set up.

The unit itself come with all mounting brackets for Intel and AMD although the AMD kit that comes with it requires to use the factory back plate on the mother board.

Coming from a high end custom water cooling system, with the PH-TC14PE, you don't need any darned stinking hoses!!!!! No leaks and no worry about pump failure.

Cons: It is big so it will not fit in all cases. It is big enough to interfere with the ram so plan on using a smaller 12 inch Noktua or some other reliable fan on the end of this monster.

Figuring out how to use the fan clips is new to me so it tool a while. Once I figured it out, it was easy.

The little black clips for mounting the fan can fly across the room and can get lost.

Has some sharp edges that can cut you if not careful.

Other Thoughts: I like this cooler a lot. After having a few problems with water cooling, I sure am glad that they have come up with a better way to air cool with this cooler. For me, it would be between this and the Noctua.

It does resemble the Noctua version a little but according to some, not all, it cools a bit better too.

The one biggest plus this system has is that it comes in different colors. It looks pretty impressive especially with the 4 fans lined up in a row on this thing as I have it set up.

Overall, I recommend the Phantek PH-TC14PE. It may not have the absolute coolest of air cooling system temperatures, but it is in the top three and with the colors available, it is the coolest no matter what!

5 out of 5 eggsBig, cools great, love it

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Why would anyone watercool unless you are going for high overclocks or have a tiny case when you have this as an option.
Cools my stock i7-3930K in the 25 C idle - 37C loaded range while gaming.
Probably could cool an old VW Beetle...

Cons: Need a big case (Corsair Graphite has tons of extra room - maybe 2 - 3 inches of clearance on side panel) and low profile memory (Vengeance LP fits fine underneath). Just do your homework and everything fits with no problems. You want air? This is it.
Should have gotten the blue to match my motherboard and memory, but hey - I'm a guy - didn't think of that until I was installing it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Quality

This review is from: Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler

Pros: Big flawless heatsink design
Sleeved pwm wires
Large clearance for ram

Developers of this cooler, I would like to to ask if we can exchange the 140MM fans for 120MM as my G.Skill Ripjaws makes me have to raise the big 140MM up and it extends outside my Phantom 410 case. This is a big issue and I would like to close up my case. Overall I do like this heatsink alot and it was worth all of it over my old Freezer 13. You guys did a nice job 9.7 out of 10

Cons: Not all white like shown in picture
Wont allow me to close case

Other Thoughts: Im in the process of bonding the thermal compound.
I would have tooken a egg off for the side panel issue but I guess its my fault for not knowing how oversized the fans are. I also feel a victim of false advertisment since in the pictures it clearly looked all white:(
