5 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: It works awesome on my e8400. Cools it down quite a bit more than stock.

I would buy again.

Cons: It's sort of a pain to install. You had best have the MOBO out of the case before installing to make it easier. It gets awfully close to my 4 pin and RAM sticks.

It's big and heavy, and the extra bracket others have mentioned is totally worth it. Make sure to get the right one.

Pros: keeps my system nice and cool.

Cons: the fan that it came with died after a week. My case has high air flow and it still stays cool, but having to replace a fan after one week is kinda ridiculous.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: keeps a phenom ii x4 very cool.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: sat there and stared at all the parts for a good 10 minutes. attempted to scare the assembly into place.

mounting teh grommets onto the fan is a real challenge. at first i attempted to push the grommets through with my fingers. no go. then i used a tiny flathead screwdriver to force the grommets through the screw holes. then after getting the grommets through enough for a little nubbin to be hanging out on the other side i used my fingers to pull them all the way through. rinse and repeat times eight and bingo.

also mounting the fan onto the heatsing was another challenge. had to make sure the grommets were aligned properly. forcefully pull one side onto the heatsink, then the other.

terrible installation instructions was not enough to take away an egg. i am an enthusiast and enjoyed the simple challenge. considering the product works great it deserves five eggs. if you do not want a little challenge getting everything working properly then buy a prebuilt system.

5 out of 5 eggsNice and quiet

Pros: Works like it's supposed to. Quiet, cools far better than AMD retail cooler. Well - if it didn't, I'd be quite upset.

Cons: It's quite tall. In my P183 there's about 0.01 mm clearance between the top of the heat pipes and the door panel.

4 out of 5 eggsCools well, but has clearance problems on some AM3 boards

Pros: Cools my Phenom II X3 with the 4th core unlocked quite well. Seems solidly built and the clip for the AM2/AM3 is easy to work with. Fairly quiet. Rubber isolators for the fan are nice.

Cons: On my ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO the cooler overlaps two RAM slots. As a result my "tall" G.SKIL Ripjaws RAM had to go in the outside slots or face 0.5mm of clearance between the RAM and the lower fins of the cooler, and makes it so you can't remove the RAM without removing the HSF. This wouldn't be an issue on an Intel board, but on an AMD board and the clip design, you can't rotate the HSF to clear the RAM slots. I suspect this would be an issue on most AMD boards.

Other Thoughts: If they'd slot the base of the HSF in both directions with a minor redesign of the clip, they'd give AMD users the ability to rotate the orientation of this HSF.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very quiet, even at full speed, nice large heat pipes. Running and i5 OC'd to 3.6 GHz at 35/62 C idle/load.

Cons: The fan mounting was rather difficult, but there really isn't an easier way to go about it. I ended up prying the fins apart and jamming in the rubber mounts. It works, though, and doesn't warrant dropping an egg.

Other Thoughts: Intel's stock coolers for the i5/i7 just don't seem to cut it. It's definitely worth it to invest in some better cooling for those cpus. I was going to buy a Dark Knight, however the back plate for it wasn't in stock for several weeks, so I bought this instead.

5 out of 5 eggsFat Pipes

Pros: Nice big heat pipes. 4-pin fan that's nearly silent at low speed and not whiny at high speed.

Cons: Tall. Wide. Make sure you have room in your case. Also, for AM2/AM3 mounting in a standard desktop tower, the fan is going to be horizontal (either blowing air up or down.)

Other Thoughts: I've got this on a 95 W processor in a nice big case with moderate airflow, and it's about 1 C above room temp. at idle. Under full load it will go up to about 20 C over ambient, still at a nearly silent fan speed. I'm pretty impressed.

I have it in an Antec P180, so it blows the hot air up and out through the case fan on the top. If you have a PSU there, then you're going to be putting your CPU-heat through your PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat cooler great price

Pros: Great cooler for the price. Dropped my load temps from 62/65 to 49/52 (E6500 @ 11x333). Pretty intelligently designed product. Fan attachment, mounting system (see note below), etc. High quality machining on base. Mine was nice and flat. Would buy another one in the future.

Cons: Kinda sucks that you have to purchase the back plate separately.

Other Thoughts: Be sure you buy the backplate for $7! Too massive to attached with included hardware. Newegg product code: N82E16835233020

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap and outstanding cooling, brought my E8500 from 55-60 c to 31-38 c, best cooler I have ever used to date.

Cons: Rubber thingys are hard to install on the fan and cooling array.

Other Thoughts: Buy it
